GOFM Recipe of the Week Lemons

Tom's Citrus-ade

Last Sunday, our good friend Tom shared with us his delicious twist to a summer favorite. Mixing the trifecta of citruses, Citrus-ade is a refreshing drink for those balmy Galveston summer days.

Do you have a delicious recipe we should try? Email me at mercedes@gofarmersmarket.com and who knows, you might see it here in our newsletter!

Step 1: Zest and juice (or juice and zest) each of the following:
  • Two navel oranges
  • Two limes
  • One lemon
  • Optional: Sprig of mint
This should make about 1- ½ cups of juice.

Step 2: Make a simple syrup.  In small pot put
  • ¾ cup of water
  • ¾ cup of sugar
Step 3: Add the zest from the fruit.  Bring to a boil, then lower to simmer about 5 minutes.  Let cool.

Step 4: In a ½ gallon container add the juice, syrup and enough water to fill the container.
Step 5: Chill and enjoy.

Optional: Add the mint. You can strain the pulp and/or the zest from the Citrus-Ade.
