A busy week yet again with lots of BBQs and Drink Receptions going on including our very own G4C event last Thursday at Revolucion de Cuba with the RTPI Young Planners. A great night was had by all, but we were thankful that this year we heeded the learning from last year and used a venue worthy of our English weather, as it rained once again! We would also like to thank Mott MacDonald for their invitation and Clugston Construction too, to which Kate managed to pop in for a short while.
On Friday night we hosted a table at the CIOB Annual Dinner with guest speaker Sir Geoff Hurst who was on top form. It was great to see so many of you there and hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.
Tuesday saw the initial meeting of Building Equality North East and a launch is planned for November. If you are interested in finding out more about this LGBT+ network, then please contact Kate Lloyd at our office. David Ridley of Mott MacDonald has been appointed North East Chair with Peter Weller of Atkins as Vice Chair.
Yesterday evening saw a fantastic event hosted by NAWIC North East with our Board Members Nik Turner and John Nielsen speaking along with Advisory Board Member Angela Carney on things they wish they’d known when starting out in construction. All the speakers were brilliant and a true inspiration for those starting out in their careers.
Tonight we have our bi-monthly Third Thursday and we would like to thank Faithful+Gould for their kind sponsorship and support in organising this evening’s event. We are delighted to have Tom Bryant, Head of Transport at Tees Valley Combined Authority speaking at the event which is being held in the Fire Station at the newly refurbished Middlesbrough Town Hall. If you haven’t booked don’t worry, just please pop along.
On Monday we are honoured to have the newly appointed CEO of the Construction Innovation Hub Keith Waller speak to us on Transforming Construction: The Construction Innovation Hub, which was created in 2018 with Government investment of £72m. This is a great opportunity to hear about what the hub is doing and what its mission is. Places are still available so please contact Grace as soon as possible.
We have lots of other events happening including a contract law seminar and site visit to name but a few, so please read on for more information.
We hope to see you soon, best wishes
Catriona
