Trailblazing cellist and composer Shirley Smart will be showcasing an evening of
exceptional music appearing at Fougou Jazz on Wednesday September 25.
She will be drawing on influences from living in Jerusalem and working with the
overlapping worlds of jazz, Arabic, Turkish and North African Music and with artists
such as Avishai Cohen, Omer Avital and Yasmin Levy. She will be featuring tracks
from her critically acclaimed album 'Long Story Short' with her world-class trio,
this promises to be an evening of mesmerising and captivating music from a true visionary.
She has quickly become known as one of the most creative cellists on the music scene and
has worked with many leading jazz and world music groups, including Antonio Forcione,
Mulato Astatke, Gilad Atzmon, Neil Cowley, Julian Ferraretto, Robert Mitchell, and
Alice Zawadski.
The trio line-up is Shirley Smart - cello, John Crawford - piano, Demi Garcia Sabat - drums.
