OneApp deadline for New Orleans families moved up by a month as district announces school changes

In a move to give parents more time to make plans for the following school year, New Orleans public school officials said the deadline to apply for schools through the centralized OneApp enrollment system has been moved up by a month for the 2020-21 school year. Read the full story here.

 The Data Gap: School Policing in Louisiana, analyzes the lack of data available on school policing programs in Louisiana school districts, and argues that complete and accurate data is necessary to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of these programs and to ensure students are not discriminated against. Charter group may lose Coghill school, six other charters face renewal

The NOLA Public Schools district this week warned Mary D. Coghill Charter School parents in a letter that the Better Choice Foundation — the nonprofit that has run Mary D. Coghill Charter School since 2013 — may not get a renewal on its charter with the district. Read the full story here.

Charter struggles to untangle mess following John F. Kennedy High School graduation fiasco

A report shows that problems persist with the charter organization, which has been mired in controversy over grade-fixing allegations and other issues related to students' credits. Officials say they're struggling to untangle the mess left behind by the malfeasance and negligence of former administrators. Read the full story here.

The Louisiana Partnership of Children and Families asked gubernatorial candidates who had raised over $1Million as of the July 2019 Ethics Reporting to attend the annual meeting.
