Hey guys, hope you the term is going along well. Midterms may be looming on the horizon, but you know what else is coming up? Our annual icebreaker event: the perfect chance to take a study break (or a break from procrastination), and mingle with your fellow club members! We'll also be looking to strengthen our ties with our friends over at SFUAni, so be sure to check out their events and stay tuned!

UBC Anime Club 2019 Icebreaker
The annual UBC Anime Club icebreaker event is this Friday! Everyone is welcome to get to know each other and participate in the myriad of activities we have planned. If you have raffle tickets, make sure you come try your luck at the raffle at the end! (Doubly so if you have 2, or even 3 tickets!)
Our icebreaker will start off in the main room, BUCH A201, at 5pm. We’ll open with an awkward (but amusing) introduction video, and you’ll get to know the 2019 executive team with a brief presentation period.
Activities will be spread across 3 rooms: the art room, which is geared towards artsy people and will feature drawing and crafts; the trivia room, where people can show off how many random anime-centric facts they know; and the games room, which will primarily feature standard party games, with a UBCAni twist. Rest assured, the victorious will be rewarded: the contents of a fat sack of snacks and extra raffle tickets will be distributed among members of winning teams.
Raffle prizes will range from keychains and folders to a multitude of figurines. Perhaps you could win a big ole giorno (see below). If you drew the proverbial short end of the stick with your gacha bag, rest assured, you can tip back the balance: there will be opportunities to get more raffle tickets! Also, you get an extra raffle ticket by pressing "Going" on the Facebook Event page below. Make sure you are present at the time of the drawing, or risk losing your chances at one (or more) of the big prizes!

Crossover Event: SFUAni x UBCAni
Food/Movie
Join our enemies, er, best friends over at SFU for a nice dinner and movie date on October 5th! We’ll be meeting up at White Spot at 5:00 PM in North Van, and then heading to the Cineplex to watch the Bunny Girl Senpai movie. If you haven’t binged the series yet, you still have time: it’s just 5 hours (give or take half an hour) to binge the whole thing. Make sure you RSVP for White Spot and buy your movie tickets soon: they go fast!
