The Children's Medical Research Institute Gerringong Quilt Show is on the horizon! It's Coming up on the 8th -10th November. The CMRI ladies have been running this show for so many years raising money for the Children's Medical Research Institute. There is still a call out for quilts so If you are local, download and print out this form to enter a quilt. There's still a little time, entries close 1st November. Scroll down for show poster below!
Berry Quilt & Co always has a stand at the show, so pop in and say hello. We will have some of our newest sashiko threads and panels as well as kits, patterns, notions and loads of fabrics as usual to tempt you. The show is open 10am-4pm Friday 8th Nov. & Saturday 9th Nov. and 10am-2pm Sunday 10th Nov, it's always worth the drive to pretty Gerringong!
PINKING UP BERRY for McGRATH FOUNDATION
We've had a fun time this month 'pinking up' our shop for the McGrath Foundation Pink Up your Town campaign. Local organisers sent out the challenge to local businesses and residents to decorate things in pink! We had a bit of our headstart because our whole building was recently painted pink! It's been fun to join in with an contribute to. All our efforts went to support the work of the McGrath foundation including the Breast Care Nurses that are so helpful in so many communities including Nowra
QUILT NSW POP-UP SEWING DAY
I am a proud member of our state guild QuiltNSW. I love all the opportunities and services this
kick-ass group of volunteers organises for members!!
I love the chance to put a quilt in the Sydney Quilt Show at Darling Harbour each year and I absolutely LOVE all the other quilty people I've met over my years of membership.  I'm also the Regional Rep. for this area so if you want to know anything about how to get involved or have any suggestions about how to bring Quilt NSW to the regions come and talk to me.

One of the more grassroots things they do for members is organise free Pop-Up Sewing Days in shops. These are an opportunity to sit and sew with friends, meet other members and discover a new shop, perhaps in an area you don't always go to.

These days have been mostly in Sydney....until now!!  Immediate Past President Megan Manwaring is now the organiser of these days and is taking the concept to the regions. Here at Berry Quilt & Co. we are proud to be the guinea pig Regional Pop-Up Sewing Day venue. This will take place on Monday the 18th November and should be a wonderful day. We will have refreshments, some quilty games and prizes as well as a chance to stitch, chat & get to know each other. Maybe we will meet locals who we didn't realise were QuiltNSW members and perhaps we will be able to spend time with some non-local visitors for a treat!

Number are limited and for QuiltNSW individual members ONLY!  Bookings are via the Quilt NSW Bookings Form or the QuiltNSW office on ph 02 9283 3737.  Here are some shots of the Quilt NSW gang here for the Away Meeting earlier in 2019! That was such fun! We look forward to seeing many of you again!
SPOTLIGHT ON 'QUILTS OF VALOUR'
Have you heard of the Quilts of Valour project? I had vaguely heard of it but didn't really know any details about it until I had an unexpected and incredibly moving encounter with the NSW organisers of the Quilts of Valour Project Stan & Sue Allen late last week when Sue & Stan visited the shop. They were on their way to Berry Bowling Club to present quilts to two veterans who had served in Vietnam. Stan and Sue (pictured below) invited me along to witness the presentation. I've posted a story on the Berry Quilt & Co Blog. You might like to click through and read more about it.  There were tears, chills up the spine, wonder at the generosity of volunteers and a reminder of how comforting and symbolic quilts truly can be.  QOV Australia Facebook link.
*** NEW -CHRIS JURD PATTERNS -NEW ***
You can now pick up Chris Jurd's amazing quilt patterns at Berry Quilt & Co. Chris is a very experienced quilter and teacher. You would know her from her Quilters' Companion videos and patterns. If you haven't had a chance to come along to one of her classes you can at least come on in and pick up one of her patterns!

Also note that we currently have two of Chris' gorgeous & exuberant quilts on show in the shop which she will take home after her class. There's still a
place left in her November Class Book in Now!
