Upcoming events
Are you interested in joining one of our committees? Are you not sure yet which one? Or do you still have some questions? Then join us Tuesday, September 17, for our committee information market. We will be located in one of the classrooms in the Harmony Building between 11:00 and 13:00 where various EPU members from all committees will be able to answer your questions and tell you something about why you should join. We are also pleased to announce that we will have a commissioner of sports as part of the SocialCie, so if you are interested, do drop by for more information.
We will then open the sign-ups where you will have the rest of the week to book an interview to join one (or more) of the committees.
Next Tuesday, the first introduction activity after the introduction camp, EPU’s Endgame, will take place. Your mission is to eliminate all of your opponents in a lasergame match. This will start at 8pm, and after that we will probably go for some drinks. This activity is only for first years and will cost €15. So join us if you dare at Target Lasergamen.
Next Wednesday, we will organize the first general activity for all members, the welcome-back drink. The first years will have the opportunity to meet the other great members this association has. Join us at Nachtcafé Warhol at 21:00 and enjoy some cocktails or other drinks. Hope to see you all there.
Agenda

A message from...

the Introduction Committee

Hey everyone, a quick word from the Introduction Committee! If you didn’t know already, the Introcie is a committee that is formed at the end of the previous academic year to organize the introduction period for new first-year American Studies students. This year, it consists of second-year students Stijn, Kelly, Thomas, Sheila, and myself (Guido), a fourth-year student. All of us are very excited to be a part of this committee!

We just came back from a very successful introduction camp on Schiermonnikoog; it was great to see the enthusiasm of the new first years. The camp was the largest and most rewarding event to organize, but of course, this isn’t the only thing we do as a committee. Throughout the remainder of this semester, we will also be hosting a variety of other activities. Starting things off are the laser game night and the pub crawl, which are both EPU traditions. Later on, you can expect a bowling night, a party, and perhaps even a running dinner or escape room.
We hope to see many of our new first years and other EPU members at both these events and others organized by the Board and other committees!

On behalf of the 2019 Introcie,
Guido de Bloois (Chair)

Introducing:

The 31st board of EPU

By Chair Iris Marissen

A recurring segment where we introduce a new committee each month.

Dear members,

I am speaking on behalf of the board when I say we are all very excited for this academic year! We already have so many great events and drinks planned for this first semester, and of course, there is more to come in the second half. But first, let me just say how amazing the new first years are. We had a blast at the pizza party after the intro day and an amazing introduction weekend at Schiermonnikoog. All the pictures can prove this as well, combined with all our time spent together discussing the correct pronunciation of ‘magnetron’ and doing some old- fashioned Dutch games. Now, enough about the great times we had, and onto the ones that are still to come. We hope to see you all at the Welcome Back drink and at the Committee Market as well! (or just sign up for all of the committees!)

EPU hoog!
Your chair, Iris

Next activity poll
Unlike the Brexit referendum that fails to listen to the opinion of the UK citizens, we try to listen to our members and thereby we are introducing the next activity poll where you can vote on future activities.

This choice is between:
 Escape room
 Canal boat
 Trampoline jumping
We hope you will fill in the poll and join us at the events for which you have voted.
If you have any ideas for future events, that feel free to mail us at info@svepu.nl
Disclaimer: The polls are an experiment, so don't get angry if we do not comply in the first month after the survey.
