As the sun sets on summer, us gardeners tend to get a little melancholy. We're here to tell you that there are many reasons to be excited about the arrival of fall!

Local pros remind us there's still plenty of time to plant in New Hampshire before the frost sets in and they have tips to share. Once your garden chores are done for the season, it's time to sharpen your greatest tool - your mind! To help you, we've curated Fall Garden Advice, Inspiration & Happenings for you from across the state:
Fall Is For Planting
We asked Beth Simpson at Rolling Green Nursery of Greenland about what to plant during the fall. She pointed out, "Many people think that as cooler autumn temperatures creep in, it’s time to stop gardening and start putting our gardens to bed for the winter. Not so! Fall is an ideal time for planting. The weather is cool but the soil is still warm enough for root development, daylight is gentler, and autumn rains typically keep the soil nicely moist. Trees, shrubs, perennials, lawns, vegetables, lawn grass, and yes, even annuals, love this kind of weather."

For fall planting, Beth shares recommendations on what to plant now. Learn More!
Go Big For Your Home This Fall!
We've been hearing a lot of buzz about the quest for Giant Hosta. If you crave bold simplicity, you might appreciate the bounty of Giant Hosta. Nothing delivers awe like these oversize perennials. In search of the most gigantic, we checked in with the experts at NHHostas.com in South Hampton and came across their list: Which Are The Largest Of The Giant Hostas

We found varieties available in hues of blue, chartreuse green or gold, as well as variegated patterns. NH Hosta manager, PJ Beaulier, tells us now is an ideal time to plant Giant Hosta in New Hampshire, because the soil is still warm, but the air is cooler, so they won't require as much water and will have plenty of time to establish before the last frost.
