It’s so easy to lose yourself in those first weeks and months after having your baby. You’re so tired that fitness often takes a back seat as you concentrate on figuring out parenting and well, surviving it!
When you feel that it’s time to find your way back to fitness, we’re here to help! We have a brilliant class here at Penistone Leisure Centre, called Squats with Tots which is perfect for when want to get your fitness back, but haven’t got childcare to cover you whilst you work out! The class is on Tuesdays from 10-11am in the main hall, and consists of a 40 minute workout session (there are toys and games out to entertain the children who can play whilst you excercise) and the final 20 minues is a crafty session with the kids. Everybody wins! Classes are £5 and run by Becca and Vicky. If you have any questions, or would like to book, please contact them on 07446 873815.
The Gym is also another great way to find your way back to fitness. If you’re feeling a bit nervous about going to the gym, then why not book an induction with Alison who is our instructor who specialises in helping people who are feeling a bit unsure about what to do. Just click the ‘I’m new to using a gym, or don’t feel confident’ button on the ‘book a gym induction’ form and Alison will help! Any of our gym instructor volunteers will be happy to help you put a training plan together.
We also have a fantastic Gym Instructor Kostas, who is available for Personal Training Sessions at Penistone Leisure Centre. Click on the link to find out more about Kostas and PT sessions.
We are here to help you find your way back to fitness!

This week we have had some new energy efficient windows installed by local firm EcoThermal Design Ltd (you might have seen their conservatory showroom at Bridge End). EcoThermal did us a really good price and have been a pleasure to work with. We’re really pleased with the new windows! So a massive thank you to them.
These windows should mean the centre stays warmer in winter and will mean smaller fuel bills. They were part of the energy efficiency work paid for by the grant we received from Black Stone Edge Community Wind Farm and South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation. This grant also paid for the majority of the work we had done to the roof a few months ago, and also will be paying for energy efficient LED lighting for the main hall. All of these improvements will stack up to make a massive impact on our bills and also our environmental impact.
We’ve still got a little tidying up of the plaster work to do around the windows which was damaged when we removed the metal bars (not by the new windows being installed!) so if anyone has a recommendation for a plasterer for a small job, it would be much appreciated!
