Block captains needed for TETNA newsletter distribution

Tosa East Towne Neighborhood Association's printed newsletter, which contains helpful information and news for residents of our neighborhood, is published three times a year and distributed by our all-volunteer network. Each block is assigned a block captain, and we are looking for neighbors willing to serve as block captains to get the newsletter to residents on their street or nearby streets.

The following are some of the blocks that still need coverage:

  • 2300 block of N. 67th St.
  • 2500 block of N. 69th St.
  • 2500 block of N. 71st St.
  • 2600 block of N. 71st St.
  • 2300 block of N. 73rd St.
  • 2300 block of N. 74th St.
  • 2700 block of N. 74th St.
  • 7300/7400/7500 blocks of Meinecke

If you are able to "adopt" one or more of those blocks and serve as block captain, please email info@tosaeasttowne.org ASAP so we can follow up with you and our distribution reps in time for our October issue.

Thanks to all who help with our newsletter!

We are gearing up for another successful Nighttime Trick-or-Treat and another tasty Taste of East Tosa. Our members are already asking for the dates, so here they are:
  • TETNA Nighttime Trick-or-Treat will be Saturday Oct. 26, with registration on Oct. 22, 24 and 26. Watch for further details as planning progresses.
  • Taste of East Tosa will be Nov. 14 at the Birch event space next to Camp Bar. We are lining up another great slate of food providers. Tickets go on sale soon.

Join the leadership team for Run Tosa Run 2020

A message from the race director:

I had the pleasure on Aug. 15 of visiting Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin to deliver a check for $5,500 to the charity's board, money collected from the proceeds of this year's Run Tosa Run. This was my sixth year leading the planning of Tosa East Towne's annual 5K, and over that period we've raised and donated more than $25,000. Hats off to all the runners, residents, volunteers and sponsors who have made this continued good news possible.

Run Tosa Run had been on hiatus for a year in 2014 when I and a couple other neighborhood residents, none of us with had any experience in race planning, worked to bring it back. It has been a labor of love each year since then, and I've personally been heartened to see so many of my neighbors get involved in a variety of ways. The kids' run, in particular, has grown to become a major event of its own, with a surprising surge of young participants this year.

That said, it is rare the organization or event that would not benefit at some point from fresh blood and new perspectives. And while I'm committed to helping with Run Tosa Run as long as I'm a Tosa East Towne resident, I'd like to recruit a co-director for the 2020 race – someone who will share the necessary task of planning but also, hopefully, someone who will see the event through new eyes and help find new ways of improving it.

If you are interested in taking on a larger role, please email us at runtosarun@gmail.com. It's not hard work, but it takes a commitment to putting on an event that the neighborhood can be proud of. A love for running helps.
