A doctorate in music education or a related field is required. Candidates should demonstrate an established and promising research profile. Experience with online teaching, course management systems, and related pedagogical approaches and technological tools is preferred. Ideal candidates will have at least four years teaching in pre-K, elementary, and/ or secondary schools. The ability to build relationships with Massachusetts public schools is critical.

The music education programs at the Boston University College of Fine Arts aim to prepare music educators from a variety of backgrounds to work effectively within contemporary landscapes, to reflect, think creatively, and practice inclusivity and equity. The music education department seeks two music educators at the rank of assistant professor (nontenure track) who are familiar with innovative approaches to music pedagogy and research. Special consideration will be given to candidates who bring expertise related to diversity and inclusion, curricular design, and differentiated instruction. Guidance of student research is a central aspect of these positions. This is a non-tenure, continuing contract position that may be renewed with demonstrated progress toward eventual promotion.
