September’s outreach collection will go to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s program of Environmental Justice and Climate Action. This work focuses on advancing and protecting the rights of marginalized populations who are at risk of climate-based displacement. The UUSC, in partnership with allied organizations, works with communities as they develop self-determination and strategies to counteract the challenges and dangers of slow-onset climate change. For example, the UUSC has partnered with Ecological Solutions, working with communities in the Solomon Islands where some communities have already faced displacement. Those affected have been learning how to advocate for government support in their relocation, and have received direct assistance in rebuilding their homes in new locations. Others at high risk for future displacement are developing strategies for relocation now. A significant piece of UUSC’s work also involves developing donors to assist with international financing to help affected communities that are self-determining their future steps. The September collection will be held on September 15

In the Footsteps of the Prophet, a biography of the Prophet Muhammad, According to one review: "capturing a life that was often eventful, gripping, and highly charged. Ramadan provides both an intimate portrait of a man who was shy, kind, but determined, as well as a dramatic chronicle of a leader who launched a great religion and inspired a vast empire. More important, Ramadan presents the main events of the Prophet's life in a way that highlights his spiritual and ethical teachings.”
