Our hearts go out to all those struck by Hurricane Dorian in Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean, and most especially the Bahamas. The road to recovery will be a long one. Let us pray for the immediate response to the disaster which is meeting people’s critical needs. May the response effective and efficient. Let us also pray for the long-term recovery. May the ways and means be provided. May people’s needs in the interim be met. Please also pray for those grieving lost loved ones. May they be comforted by God’s peace and presence.

As hurricane season is beginning, let’s remember to continue to pray for the safety and security of those who will be impacted.

Thank you for continuing to pray with us for the Venezuelans at home and abroad as they face uncertain, difficult times. May God give them strength and comfort as He provides for their needs through the compassion and care of others. May peace and stability soon return to their country.

We continue to pray for the Ebola outbreak in Congo. As the number of cases rises, there is growing concern that the disease will spread to neighbouring countries. Please pray for those who are ill and for their families.  May they be healed quickly and may their families be untouched. Please pray for the medical personnel and leaders as they respond to this crisis. May they be kept safe as they work to heal the sick and prevent more cases. Please pray for the communities at risk. May they be kept safe from the disease through knowledge, understanding, and safe practices. Please also pray that the disease will be contained as it is eliminated, reducing the risk of its spreading elsewhere.

Cases of dengue fever are on the rise. Please pray for those who have contracted the disease. May they receive the care they need to recover. Please also pray for the regions which are becoming more vulnerable to the mosquitos that spread the disease. May they be given wisdom to understand how best to protect their citizens. 

Our concern for the plight of the Rohingya refugees continually grows. Caught in a complex situation, their choices are few. Please pray for these people, that somehow they may be able to find peace, stability, and security. Please pray that their needs will be met in a timely manner as they seek ways to support themselves. Please pray also for the governments involved, that the hearts of their decision makers will be softened and their actions motivated by humane impulses.

Wildfires in Bolivia, Brazil, and Australia are challenging responders and governments as they leave devastation in their wake. Please pray that efforts to halt these fires will be successful. Please also pray that the people and property in their paths will be protected from harm.

All over the world there is civil unrest. Most recently, we hear about the events in Hong Kong and Sudan. Let us remember to pray for the people caught in these unstable situations. May they be kept safe and may peace and security soon return to their countries.

ADRA believes that every child, everywhere, should be in school. To raise awareness of the life-changing importance of education, ADRA has launched an effort to advocate for the 263 million children who should be in school, but who have been denied the opportunity.  Conflict, child marriage, disability, and poverty are obstacles that must be overcome. Please pray for the success of this campaign. May it touch many hearts and spur on actions to share the blessing of education with children around the world.

We are so grateful for the new staff that have joined our ADRA team! They bring skills and talents to our ministry that will strengthen our efforts to be the hands and feet of Jesus. May they and their families be blessed for their service!
