Help patients and the public be heard within the NHS in Sheffield

Could you champion the voice of the public and contribute to discussions about services, plans and strategies within the NHS in Sheffield?  We’re recruiting for two members of the public to join the Strategic Patient Engagement, Equality and Experience Committee (SPEEEC).

If you have experience of receiving healthcare in Sheffield, championing the voice of others and feel confident to challenge appropriately in formal settings, it could be the role for you.

The role is for a time period of two years and the committee meets for two hours, at least every six weeks, usually on a Tuesday morning at the CCG offices. The successful candidates will be offered £150 per meeting, plus expenses.

Closing date for applications is Friday 4 October and interviews take place on Friday 8 November.

You can find more information and apply here.
Improving how we give you care for your skin conditions

Organisations across Sheffield are working together to find innovative ways to give you the care you need for your skin conditions that will mean:
  • Your condition is treated quicker
  • You only have to visit hospital when you really need to
We would love to hear feedback from patients/carers who are currently receiving care for any skin condition, and are arranging a number of ways for you to be involved or give feedback.

Children's wheelchair services

NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) want to find out how we can improve the prescription and delivery of wheelchairs to those that need them.

We want to make improvements to the wheelchair services to help people secure the equipment that meets their needs. We are currently reviewing the service provided at the Mobility & Specialised Rehabilitation Centre at Northern General Hospital and we would like to know:

  • What’s currently working well?
  • What could be improved?

Your comments will be considered as part of the review and will help us to improve the service that you receive.

Changes to our Access to Fertility Treatment policy

CCGs across Yorkshire and Humber agreed to work together to update the joint access to fertility treatment commissioning policy to reflect new national guidance and other policy changes.

Whilst the majority of the proposed changes are simple amendments to wording to make the policy easier to read or reflect changes to clinical terminology, there are some changes that may affect whether a person/people is eligible for NHS funded fertility treatment.

More information about the changes including the full proposed policy can be found on our website here.

We are asking for views from the public about these proposed changes. People can have their say by following the link to the survey here. The survey is open until 6 October 2019.

Please note that the policy sets out who is eligible for specialist fertility services, it is not about how many cycles of infertility treatments are paid for by individual CCGs. This is covered by each CCG’s own local policy around funding of specialist infertility treatment, which remains unchanged.

You can help us to develop the strategy by taking a few minutes to fill in our online survey.

You can complete the survey here.

The survey is open until Sunday 22 September.
