1.  Universal chief talks about Nintendo World, Epic Universe and its competition with Disney

Universal’s parks CEO got candid as he weighed in on everything from its competition with Disney, new technology and what it takes to build a new theme park such as Epic Universe in Orlando.  Tom Williams was interviewed Wednesday during the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2019 Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference in Los Angeles.

2.  Take a First Look at the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Ride Vehicles

Last month at the D23 Expo 2019, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled new details around Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, a family-friendly “storytelling coaster” that will feature a groundbreaking ride system with vehicles that rotate 360 degrees and can even do a reverse launch.  

3.  PY Gerbeau: The London Resort CEO reveals ambitious plans for a world-class theme park

It is one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever in Europe. Now, with a new CEO at the helm, the developers of The London Resort are ready to discuss their plans. Blooloop meets PY Gerbeau to discover more about the proposed multi-billion pound development. 

4.  Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens, new SeaWorld coaster coming in 2020

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld Orlando held an unusual simultaneous news conference on Thursday looking to the future of the parks, noting many new attractions, coasters and waterslides coming in 2020 as the company resurfaces from years of stormy seas.   “I think they are definitely on the comeback trail,” said Dennis Speigel, president of Ohio-based consulting firm International Theme Park Services. “I think at some point in time we will see them back to where they were years ago.”
 

5.  Universal Parks CEO: Trade war isn't disrupting Beijing project

While the trade war with China has upended some U.S. companies’ plans to enter or expand their presence in the country, the tensions haven’t interrupted Comcast NBCUniversal's construction of a theme park in Beijing.

6.  'A question of where': Bell's Amusement Park owner says rebuild coming

Make no mistake: Bell's Amusement Park will be rebuilt, but questions remain about where the flashing lights and roller coasters will go.  Robby Bell, owner of the Bell family's amusement park, said Thursday there are plans in place and a location for the rebuilt park could be announced this fall. 

7.  Rides 4-U to Liquidate Amusement Rides from Cincinnati based Coney Island

Cincinnati, Ohio based Coney Island announced this week that it plans to liquidate its amusement park rides by the end of the month and focus all of its attention on its water park.  The rides will be open through September 21.

8.  Disneyland ride mashup: Jungle Cruise skippers take us on a comedic tour through the Haunted Mansion

A pair of Jungle Cruise skippers have wandered far off course to the far reaches of New Orleans Square to take Disneyland fans on a pun-tastic tour of the Haunted Mansion filled with “deadpan” jokes that go into “grave detail.”

9.  Virtual walk through Toverland thanks to new images in Google Street View

Thanks to new images, it is possible to virtually walk through Toverland. When you open Google Street View , you now also come across the theme areas Port Laguna and Avalon, which were opened last year. They were missing so far.

10.  Legoland reveals plans for a Christmas Kingdom and Santa Grotto

UK - Legoland has release Christmas tickets for the theme park's festive season.  The brick-based tourist attraction is selling premium tickets for a Christmas experience at the Windsor site that includes a trip on a special Brickmas Express train, Father Christmas models and a Christmas Kingdom.

11.  €233M Midlands Tourist Attraction Facing 50% Higher Insurance Costs Than In UK

Centre Parcs is dealing with the increased rate for premiums in Ireland because of its outdoor activity based ethos.

12.  Disney World’s Epcot to offer cheese crawl

Disney World guests at the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will enjoy a cheese food crawl and sample foods from around the world.

13.  Village Roadshow announced as new naming rights’ sponsor for Gold Coast Marathon

The Gold Coast Marathon has secured a new naming rights’ sponsor, with Village Roadshow Theme Parks signing a three-year agreement.  Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby said the company was proud to align with the IAAF gold label event.

14.  A Piece Of History: Local Real Estate Agent Wins Log Jammer Auction

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) — A lot of Kennywood fans were upset when the decision was made to close to the Log Jammer, but one local realtor now owns a piece of history.
 

15.  'Stranger Things' are happening at Orlando's Cabana Bay Resort

Now until Halloween, guests at Cabana Bay can also take photos and even eat inside featured set replicas from the Netflix hit series "Stranger Things." It's a solid match, since HHN is already going back to the 80's with scare houses featuring iconic movie moments from the "Me" decade, and Cabana Bay already features a retro vibe with architecture inspired by 1950s and 60s.

1.   Photos: Scene75 to Open Indoor Entertainment Center at Tuttle Mall

Within just a few weeks, entertainment company Scene75 will open its first location in Central Ohio.  The Dayton-based, family-owned company is transforming a former Macy’s location into 225,000 square feet of indoor activities and attractions, the largest the company has ever built.

2.  Sunway to invest heavily in hybrid retail parks with retailtainment

Sunway are to invest RM2.25 billion ($548 million) in new malls and expansions over the next four years. Retailtainment is key to the new developments like Sunway Big Box.

3.  The first Interactive Road Culture Center for children arrives in KidZania

"Children are an engine of change, they are called to reverse accident rates and promote road culture, because they are the drivers of the future." With these words, the president of the CChC Security Mutual , Lorenzo Constans, inaugurated the first Center for Interactive Road Culture for children in KidZania .

4.  Jaw-Dropping Family Entertainment Center "Thrillz" Franchise Investors

Franchising is about to take flight. Thrillz, the innovative family entertainment center, inspired by America’s craze for ninja warrior-style challenges, announced its plans to expand through franchising. Based in Danbury, Connecticut, Thrillz is eager to bring the thrill of free falling to communities worldwide. 

5.  New entertainment park opens its doors

The wait is finally over as two new entertainment centers open their doors.  "All new equipment, everything is brand new, everything is beautiful here and it's amazing," said Regional Manager Jim Walker.  Meridian's newest attraction - a trampoline park and bowling alley is bringing hundreds to highway 45 area.

6.  What it's like to ride Paula Deen's new zipline roller coaster in Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge visitors can now experience the thrills of a zipline and roller coaster on a new attraction from Paula Deen.  Paula Deen's Lumberjack Feud Show & Adventure Park in Pigeon Forge held the grand opening for its new zipline roller coaster, the Flying Ox, on Thursday afternoon.

7.  WhirlyBall adding restaurant to spot set to open this fall

A new restaurant called The Pivot Room is coming to Naperville this fall inside a WhirlyBall game center that's soon to open near Route 59 and I-88.  The restaurant's name comes from an action WhirlyBall leaders hope customers will do when they visit, pivoting from games to food to drinks in any order they choose, said Adam Elias, WhirlyBall's vice president of strategic planning.

8.  Check Out the Peabody Essex Museum’s New Wing—For Free!

This month, the Peabody Essex Museum debuts its long-awaited, 40,000 square foot new wing—and if you pay it a visit opening weekend, you’ll get to check it out admission-free, thanks to the Museum’s Public Opening Celebration. PEM’s $125 million expansion marks a major update for the country’s oldest continuously operating museum, so even regular visitors will have plenty of new sights to take in.

9.  Angela Merkel on-hand for opening of €28m Bauhaus Museum Dessau

Germany's Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has cut the ribbon to open the new Bauhaus Museum in Dessau – a building designed to hold the 49,000 exhibits in the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation collection.  Dessau is the German city most closely associated with the Bauhaus school of design, which was operational between 1919 and 1933, and is considered one of the most influential movements in modern design.

10.  Train observation tower opens at Radford's Glencoe Museum

Shortly after the New River Train Observatory opened, visitors got their first glimpse of a locomotive passing by the Glencoe Museum’s latest attraction.  Tuesday’s unveiling highlighted the significant role trains have played in the city’s history and celebrated Virginia Tech architecture students who designed and built the viewing platform.

1.  Solar Vortex water slide opening spring 2020 at Adventure Island

America’s first dual-tailspin water slide is opening in spring 2020 at Adventure Island with Solar Vortex.  This family raft slide will combine high-banking rotations with rapid descents, sending riders through two open tailspin features. 

2.  Great Wolf Lodge Arizona delays opening

The highly anticipated opening of Great Wolf Lodge Arizona has been delayed.  The $100 million project, which includes a large indoor waterpark, twice moved up its opening date. Now, less than a week away from its scheduled Sept. 18 grand opening, the Chicago-based company has put the brakes on those plans.

3.  Nocatee waterpark testing water after parents say children got sick

The Nocatee Splash Waterpark is testing its water after social media comments from a private mom's group surfaced over the weekend.  The mothers questioned whether or not their children had gotten sick after recent trips to the waterpark. Currently, there isn't a direct link to any illness.

4.  IEE PREVIEW: OpenAire to discuss upcoming waterpark

At this year's IAAPA Expo Europe (IEE), formerly the Euro Attractions Show, OpenAire will be on hand to discuss its newest waterpark.  Opening in 2021, the new park will form part of the 2.1sq km (0.81sq mi) OWA resort destination on the Gulf Coast in Foley, Alabama

1.  Opening Day nears for tigers at Detroit Zoo as new habitat unveiled

It is the day before the public unveiling for these two new tigers at the Detroit Zoo, and the animals are settling into their new $3.5 million habitat: the Devereaux Tiger Forest.

2.  Henry Doorly Zoo and CHI Health team up to create virtual zoo tour for patients

CHI Health and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium are teaming up to help bring a zoo-like experience to patients who can’t leave the hospital.  According to a release, a robot named Well-e will take patients from the CHI Health Immanuel Rehabilitation Institute on a virtual field trip to the zoo.

3.  Como Zoo celebrates birth of baby giraffe

The Como Zoo is celebrating its latest addition to the zoo family, according to a press release.  The zoo's giraffe, Clover, gave birth on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. Zoo visitors caught the early moments of Clover in labor late in the afternoon, when the baby's hooves began to emerge.

4.  San Diego Zoo Picks New CEO from Walt Disney Studios

San Diego Zoo Global announced Thursday that Disney executive Paul Baribault will be its new president and chief executive officer.  Baribault succeeds Douglas Myers, who announced his retirement earlier this year after 34 years at the helm of the internationally renowned zoo.

5.  Attractions.io helps Twycross Zoo go paperless with new mobile app

Attractions.io, leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has enabled Twycross Zoo to go paperless, thanks to its new mobile app.  Attractions.io is pleased to announce that it has provided visitor favourite Twycross Zoo with a brand new app. 

6.  Zoo to hold ground breaking ceremony

Lee Richardson Zoo will hold the ground-breaking ceremony for the new Primate and Flamingo Habitats and Animal Health Facility construction projects at 11 a.m. on Sept. 17, in the grassy area to the west of the lion habitat.
 

7.  Baby boomers: Louisville Zoo enjoying larger crowds since baby elephant's debut

Business is booming at the Louisville Zoo, and it's because of its newest member.  Crowds have flocked to the zoo to see its baby elephant calf, who made his public debut Sept. 5. The zoo saw more than 6,400 visitors Saturday, Sept. 7, and more than 5,700 on Sunday, Sept. 8, according to a zoo spokesperson. 

8.  Central Florida Zoo to give free admission to children for a limited time

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens says that starting Friday, they will offer free single-day zoo admission to children.  Only children between ages 3 to 12 are eligible. Full-fare adult admission must be purchased.

9.  Clearwater Aquarium releases endangered loggerhead sea turtle

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium releases an endangered loggerhead sea turtle on the sands of Clearwater Beach. The 107-pound sub-adult female named “Nitro”, was found floating by a boater near Hurricane Pass in Pinellas County.

10.  You Can Take a Dive with Aquarium Experts Tonight

The New England Aquarium will bring the diving experience at one of the region’s most precious ocean preserves to the (very) big screen Thursday night. In a rare offering, experts will be beamed in live from a research ship 130 miles off Cape Cod in protected waters rich with marine life, where they plan to narrate dive and aerial footage at the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument and answer questions about the wonders of the deep in real time. All the action will be displayed on the aquarium’s gigantic IMAX screen, the largest in New England.

1.  Beatles: Strawberry Field site opens as tourist attraction

The children's home that inspired The Beatles' famous song Strawberry Fields Forever is to open its gates as a tourist attraction and youth centre.  Music icon John Lennon "found sanctuary" in the gardens of the Strawberry Field home in Woolton, Liverpool as a young boy.

2.  In response to tourist deaths, Dominican Republic introduces tourism security committee

NEW YORK — On Thursday, the Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier García held a briefing to discuss the ministry's commitment to tourist safety.  "Dominican Republic is a country that tries to safeguard the lives of tourists," said García.  The briefing followed at least 10 U.S. tourist deaths in the Dominican Republic since March.
