RHODE ISLAND DEMOCRATIC PARTY WOMEN’S CAUCUS ELECTS NEW CHAIR

 
[PROVIDENCE, RI, September 12, 2019]  The Rhode Island Democratic Party Women’s Caucus is pleased to announce the election of a new Chair of the caucus, Liz Gledhill. The special election for a new Chair was held at the September 12, 2019 meeting. 

Liz plans to focus on engagement, recruitment, and retention to grow the Caucus membership, as well as empowering and educating members. “When we remove barriers AND provide support and training to an engaged Caucus, we build unstoppable momentum...Training women to be campaign managers, campaign volunteers, and better advocates will make us a stronger caucus, and will sharpen our tactical skills as we ride the Blue Wave into the next election.”

Liz also aims to expand the Women’s Caucus membership to be as diverse as possible, “As chair, I am prepared to begin the work of forging partnerships with groups and organizations, and asking them, ‘What can we bring to the table to help?’ Only by becoming a reliable and trustworthy ally can we begin to build a reputation that will inspire a more diverse Membership.”

Prior to her election as Chair of the caucus, Liz served on the Executive Committee as the 2nd Congressional District representative. She also served as town councilwoman for South Kingstown from 2015-2018. Liz presently lives and works in the Village of Wakefield, with her two children and husband.

The RIDP Women's Caucus seeks to impact government and political processes in order to ensure equality in power, influence, and economic status for those who identify as and with women. We will do this by (a) recruiting and supporting candidates in all levels of government and (b) advocating for Democratic principles consistent with state and national Party platforms.
