Any occasion where your military partner is away for 30 days or more on; course: IR,
training or operational duty, regardless of location.

Make, Bake and Take Night at Chez Angela
Image a paint night out with friends, but instead of paint you use flour and fruit and you get to eat your work of art! Make Angie’s famous apple pie from scratch with over 2 hours of instruction from professional bakers. Participants also get to make up dough and take it home to practice their fillings and make up to two more sweet or savory pies or quiches.

Crafting the Day Away
Let’s get together for a day full of crafting. Bring whatever you are working on; scrapbooking, crochet, drawing, and/or knitting. A full 6 foot table for everyone. Great way to get ideas and get your projects done. Everyone welcomed - beginners or pros. Bring your favourite dish for a potluck lunch and for supper we’ll provide pizza.

Lamaze Prenatal Classes 
This course is offered by Bethany Geisel, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. It is aimed at increasing the birthing person and their partner (or support person) confidence and ability to give birth and promoting a healthy childbirth experience. Prepare for your baby’s birth so that you have the most recent, evidence-based knowledge and information to be able to make informed decisions and advocate for yourself and your baby. Topics covered include: Normal, physiological, labour & birth processes – Variations of normal, medical interventions – Managing labour discomforts naturally & medically – The postpartum period, breastfeeding and your newborn. A half hour lunch break is included, please bring your own lunch.

Basic Quilting
Take a “Trip Around the World” quilting course with Sheryl. In two days, Sheryl will teach you the basics of quilting while you create a table runner or small lap quilt. All you need to know is how to sew a straight line. Must have a sewing machine. A supply list will be sent to you.

Youth Programs

All youth programs will take place at the Youth Centre, unless otherwise indicated.

 


YOUTH CENTRE

Youth Centre Membership
Youth Centre membership will give your child access to our drop-in times as well as some planned programs at no additional cost! Drop in times will be mostly un-structured, with a variety of activities for your child to participate in, including our canteen (extra cost). Planned activities can be found on our Youth Programs calendar which is available on the Shilo MFRC Youth Programs Facebook page and also the MFRC website. Other programs including field trips and most non-drop in programs will have an additional charge- see calendar and program description for more details.  

The cost of a Youth Centre membership for one year (September-August):
Kindergarten-grade 6: $25
Grades 7-12: $15
Drop in fee: $2

You will always have the option of paying a drop in fee, but the membership is the most cost efficient way to go! Membership fees can be paid at MFRC reception during regular business hours (Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm); or at the Youth Centre during drop in times (cheque or exact cash only).

Membership forms must be completed prior to your child attending any Youth Centre drop in program.

In order for your registration to be complete for all MFRC programs, payment must be received by the program registration deadline.

Payment can be made at the front desk during regular business hours.
Cash/debit/credit accepted.
 

Preschool Programs
(0-5 yrs ~ has not begun kindergarten)

All programs will run in the Preschool Program room, unless otherwise indicated.
 

PARENT & TOT

Tumbleweeds Playgroup
This is a drop in program for children to run, tumble and jump. This program runs Tuesdays from September to June. If weather permits we will be outside.
Tuesdays (October 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29)

All ages welcome
$1.00 drop in fee (per family)
Meet in the preschool program room (if we are outside a sign will be posted on the door)

Baby Club
Please join Kirstin and other moms with their little ones every Thursday. This facilitated group will have games, crafts, and a place to enjoy the company of others with some special speakers along the way! Remember we are on “baby time” so late comers are always welcome and you can leave when needed.

Parent(s) with children ages 0-24 months
No cost to participant -

The Learning Circle (TLC)
The aim of this program is to enhance the parent’s role as the child’s first teacher. This is done through structured and unstructured activities. There are new topics and themes scheduled each week from September-June. There is no fee for the program and healthy snacks are provided for participants.

Join us as we go outside to experience the amazing colors of fall, we will be venturing into the trees beside the Shilo Campground to see and feel all the changes that this season brings us! *Please send your child with a small backpack, water bottle, light snack, and warm clothing*

Pumpkin Guts
Come get your hands dirty with some pumpkin guts exploration! We will be scooping out and exploring the slimy but satisfying insides of our pumpkins and after we will be decorating small pumpkins to take home! Light snack will be provided.
