1. NYC’s Peloton has priced its IPO at between $26 and $29 a share. If successful, the IPO will raise as much as $1.16 billion, valuing the company at $8.06 billion. ( www.onepeloton.com) (CBNC)
2. NYC’s Group Nine Media, owner of Thrillist, NowThis Media and Seeker, has raised $50 million. The funding was provided by Discovery Inc and Axel Springer SE. Group Nine was formed in 2016 with a $100 million investment from Discovery, combining three media startups backed by NYC’s Lerer Hippeau Ventures. ( www.groupninemedia.com) (Variety)
3. Uber is about to lease a massive amount of office space at 3 World Trade Center. The deal will give Uber seven floors, totaling more than 300,000 square feet, with an option to take an additional 50,000. The new office space will be used to consolidate the company's current offices in Chelsea, Times Square, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Long Island City. (New York Post)
4. NYC’s Loadsmart, a digital freight broker, has raised $19 million in a venture finding round. The financing was provided by Connor Capital, Chromo Invest and Ports America. The company’s platform uses AI to analyze hundreds of data sources to automate truckload booking with a goal of maximizing efficiency. ( www.loadsmart.com) (Pulse 2.0)
5. NYC’s Prevu, a digital home buying platform has raised $2 million in seed funding. The round was led by Corigin Ventures and joined by Kairos and AVG Basecamp Fund. The company’s platform offers home buyers a rebate on customary brokerage commissions. ( www.prevu.com) (BusinessWire)
6. BigID, with offices in NYC and Tel Aviv, has raised $50 million in a Series C funding. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from SAP.io Fund, Salesforce Ventures, Comcast Ventures, NYC’s Boldstart Ventures, Scale Venture Partners and ClearSky. BigID’s platform is focused on enterprise data protection via finding, tracking and de-risking personal identity data stored across enterprise databases. ( www.bigid.com) (TechCrunch)
7. Brooklyn’s Thinkful, an online coding bootcamp, is being acquired by Chegg. The purchase price is $80 million plus up to an additional $20 million in performance incentives. Thinkful, which had $14 million in net revenue in 2018, has raised $16 million from investors including NYC’s Tribeca Venture Partners, RRE Ventures, Peter Thiel and Owl Ventures. 8. WeWork’s largest investor, Japan’s Softbank, is reportedly asking the company to shelve its IPO. SoftBank is reportedly concerned that if WeWork were to go public at a valuation much lower than its last private valuation of $47 billion, it could hurt SoftBank's ability to raise its second Vision Fund. SoftBank’s Vision Fund has invested more than $10 billion in WeWork. ( www.we.co) (Business Insider)
9. NYC’s Salaryo, a startup which finances co-working space security deposits, has raised $5.5 million in a debt and equity round. Investors included Ruby Ventures.
