Save the Date: Quarry Hill Book Fair

The "Scholastic Book Fair" is coming to Quarry Hill Elementary the week of October 4th through 11th, 2019. Students are scheduled to visit the Book Fair during their regular library period. They can pick out their books during school or make their wish list for Family Night. This is a PTO fundraiser, and last year Quarry Hill PTO earned 25% of all book sales that week. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be available online from Sunday, September 29th through Saturday, October 12th, 2019. Jeff Kinney's newest title, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball (book 14) and Dav Pilkey's newest title, Dog Man-Fetch 22, will be available for pre-order at the fair and delivered directly to your child at school when they are released. Scholastic is offering an eWallet payment option. Parents can create an account and authorize a spending limit on their credit card. More information will be sent this week!
Don't forget to join us for the Book Fair Family Night and Ice cream Social, 6-8pm in the school gym, Friday October 11th!
Enjoy a treat with your QH community and then check out all the books and activities in the gymnasium. We have a big selection planned for you this year. Miler's Club--We Need You!

What is it?

Miler’s Club is an opportunity for kids in 2-5th Grades to run/walk 0.25 mile laps during recess. Each lap they complete will be tallied and for every 20 laps they will receive a special toe tag charm from Mr. Wright.

When is it?

Miler’s Club is held during 2-5th Grade recess, in the Autumn and Spring, twice a week. The Autumn session will start on Tuesday, September 24th and will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays until mid-late November, weather cooperating.

How can you help?

Come for for any 2-5th grade Miler’s Club recess slots and record laps run by students. WE NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS for Miler’s Club to ‘run’ consistently and successfully!! This is a nice way to see your kids during the day, be outside, and it is sibling-friendly! You can even run/walk with your kids as long as there are enough volunteers to also tally laps.

Who Will Buzz off Mr. Rebh or Mr. Wright's Hair?

In an effort to raise money for our School Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) program, the Quarry Hill community is holding a contest to determine if Mr. Rebh or Mr. Wright will get a buzz cut!  The money we raise will help offset the cost of our SWPBIS banners and signs, as well as a jaguar mascot costume! From all the people who donate, one lucky winner will be selected to give Mr. Rebh or Mr. Wright a buzz cut.  If we raise over $1000, Mr. Wright and Mr. Rebh will both get their heads buzzed!

In order to participate, you will fill out a slip, circling "Mr. Rebh" or "Mr. Wright", put your name on it, and put it and $1 in a sealed envelope.  If you want to donate more money, just send it in, and we will fill out the appropriate number of slips.  We encourage parents and guardians to participate, too!  The slips will be available to students beginning Monday, 9/23

Whoever raises the most money, gets a buzz cut!  Whoever gets picked, gives the buzz cut!

The contest will begin Monday, 9/23 and last until our Jaguar Pride 200 kickoff event on Thursday, 10/3!
