RHODE ISLAND DEMOCRATIC PARTY WOMEN'S CAUCUS SENDS RESOLUTION TO THE STATE PARTY ABOUT RIDP BYLAWS

[PROVIDENCE, RI, September 16, 2019] On September 12, 2019, the Rhode Island Democratic Party Women's Caucus passed a resolution recommending changes to the Rhode Island Democratic Party (RIDP) bylaws to ensure the RIDP operated in a more open, democratic, and transparent manner.

The resolution called for the state party bylaws to: 1) eliminate endorsements in primaries; 2) increase financial transparency and accountability; 3) balance powers among the Chair, Officers, and State Committee members, and 4) improve and implement bylaw requirements to allow for more meaningful RIDP participation by all interested RI Democrats.

The resolution and a supporting memorandum are attached and were submitted to RIDP Executive Director and the State Committee Chairman Representative Joe McNamara.

The RIDP Women's Caucus seeks to impact government and political processes in order to ensure equality in power, influence, and economic status for those who identify as and with women. We will do this by (a) recruiting and supporting candidates in all levels of government and (b) advocating for Democratic principles consistent with state and national Party platforms.
