Dear Wellsprings Community,
As Wellsprings Friends School enters its 26th year, I am writing to let you know that the Board of Trustees and I have agreed that this will be my last year as Head of School. I wanted to share this news with you directly, and to thank you for the role that you have played in supporting the youth who are empowered by this unique school.
Now in my 20th year serving as Head, it feels as though I’ve come full circle. The role of head of school is an all-encompassing, 24/7 responsibility that has been both endlessly challenging and endlessly rewarding. It has been a true labor of love and a defining aspect of my life.
All the countless numbers of people--the students, teachers and staff, parents and family members, trustees, donors, and supporters--that I have met during these two decades have enriched my life. Experiencing what all of us together have accomplished in changing/saving young people’s lives is a treasure beyond words.
The Board of Trustees has a transition plan in place, which you will hear more about at a later date. The Board is looking forward to the full and continuing support of everyone in the Wellsprings community during this time of change.
As the 2019/20 school year begins, I look forward to one more wonderful year at Wellsprings and hope to see you soon – perhaps at our annual Toast ‘N’ Roast on October 16th! Meanwhile, I wish the students, staff and entire Wellsprings community the very best in this year and the years to come.
Warm regards,
Dennis Hoerner
Head of School
