Harbord Village Residents’ Association is again looking for volunteers with new ideas, perspectives, and an interest in helping in our community to add to our already existing base of great volunteers. The hard work and dedication of volunteers have kept HVRA alive and relevant, and you can become part of this process. So this message is asking you to bring your skills, energy and enthusiasm to HVRA to help us make this great neighbourhood even better.
As a resident of Harbord Village — whether a home or business owner or a renter — you can become more involved in your neighbourhood through volunteer opportunities. Volunteering for HVRA is an excellent way to get to know your neighbours and become aware of the day-to-day issues that concern all of us. You can tailor jobs to your available time and to your current abilities and interests. Or maybe you'd like to try something totally new - It's all possible!
You may want to work on organizing the upcoming wonderful crowd-pleasing Pumpkinfest, or the Plant Fair put on by the Gardening Group, or the glorious Fall Fair that brings the whole community together each September. HVRA always needs more hands on deck for these events. Those hands could be yours!
If public occasions are not of interest to you, then perhaps you could help out with the HVRA Website or help compose the bi-yearly Newsletter or take photographs of HVRA events. HVRA’s standing committees span a whole gamut of neighbourhood interests — Heritage, Planning & Development, Environment, Communications, Transportation, Parent Consultation, Community Resiliency Planning. Consider joining one of these to work behind the scenes.
This is also the season where there are opportunities to become an officer of the Board or an Area Representative. Board members will be voted on at the upcoming AGM on Wednesday, October 16. If you don’t have a specific idea of what may be of interest to you right now, you can still put your name on the roster of volunteers to be called upon for our various events. We’ll be glad to have you!
To volunteer, please do the following:
1. Write a few lines (not too many) about yourself and your interests and, if you know, where you see yourself volunteering in the HVRA.
2. Send your words and contact information to search2019@harbordvillage.com.
