Special Alert: Colorado Bicycle Summit on October 7th

Our partner and Streets for People Summit co-organizer, Bicycle Colorado, invites you to their annual Colorado Bicycle Summit, the perfect time to connect with the larger movement of advocates from around the state!

This year's event on October 7th features:
  • Incredible keynote speaker Rebecca Rusch and a morning workshop with PeopleForBikes.
  • A plenary panel, (Re)volution: Bicycling in Colorado has an inclusion problem, is about ensuring bicycling—in all of its wonderful forms—and the bicycle advocacy movement is welcoming to ALL people. This session will celebrate some of the diversity in the world of bicycling and explore strategies for creating an inclusive bicycling community and advocacy movement.
  • Get the game plan: Local advocates share their playbooks allows advocates to connect with others who have found success by strategizing with other supporters, getting to know elected officials, and learning how to use their voice effectively. It’s the next best thing to Advocacy University.
  • Behind the handlebars. What does research tell us about bicycling behaviors? focuses on the fact vs. fiction of how bicyclists act on roads and trails and what we can do to have more productive and informed conversations about our modes of recreation and transportation.
  • Shifting public perception: Bicycling in the media dives into the importance of language in our conversations about riding bikes. Why do we use terms like bicyclist instead of cyclist? Crash instead of accident? Hear from reporters, law enforcement and academics about why language matters in the world of advocacy.
  • Meet the people of the movement gives you the opportunity to connect with a wide array of people who have helped increase riding in their communities. You can hear from some stellar humans about their riding and join a small group discussion to learn and build a more inclusive bicycling movement.
With exciting and informative breakout sessions to choose from, a can’t-miss keynote, an engaging morning workshop, and an evening screening of Rebecca Rusch’s Emmy Award-winning documentary Blood Road, this year’s Summit is shaping up to be our best yet. RSVP today!
