MANITOBA COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION

CO-OP CONNECTIONS

FALL 2019 EDITION

Co-op Week

National Co-op Week is coming up from October 13 - 19, 2019.  What are you doing to celebrate?  Share with us your ideas and suggestions on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram at @ManitobaCoop and be sure to use the hashtag #CoopWeek2019 so we can all celebrate together!

Celebrate Cooperative Achievement

The Manitoba Cooperative Association (MCA) is pleased to recognize cooperative achievement annually at the Cooperative Awards Banquet during Co-op Week.

This year we will be honouring 2 individuals at 5:30pm on October 16, 2019 at the Norwood Hotel in Winnipeg.

  • Distinguished Co-operator Mary Nirlungayuk, nominated by Arctic Co-operatives Limited
  • Cooperative Merit Award Winner Ernest Fraser, nominated by Pembina Co-op

Join us in celebrating these accomplished co-operators.  Tickets are available for $75 each, or a reserved table of 8 for $550.  Contact our office for more information or for tickets.  We hope to see you there!

Co-op Development Grants

Thanks to the contributions made to the Manitoba Cooperative Association from co-ops across the province, we are currently offering small co-op development grants.

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to support co-op development activities in your co-op project.  The application deadline is October 18, 2019.  Please be sure to carefully follow the directions outlined on the application form.

Participate in Democracy

On October 21, 2019 Canadians are exercising our democratic rights and going to the polls to elect our Federal Government.  As cooperators we have a lot of experience with democracy and know the importance or participating in the democratic process.
Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada have put together an election toolkit to help us make co-ops matter this election.
Additionally, the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada has built a campaign to "Include Co-op" in a national housing strategy this election campaign.  Visit the website to find out more.
