Chris Tap
In his studio, on the Elswout estate, Chris Tap makes animal images and is inspired by the surroundings. Thanks to visual artist Wim Tap, the father of Chris, Chris developed the basic skills for what would later become his profession and especially passion at a young age. During his visits to Artis, he became fascinated by animals as a child and later got the chance to study them closely. A unique collaboration with a doctor who operated and anesthetized various predators gave Chris the opportunity to measure the proportions and sizes of the jaguar and lion and feel their bones and muscles.
With his very thorough knowledge of the anatomy of animals, impressions of nature are perfected in detail.
Chris's work is purchased by collectors from all continents and is represented in the Netherlands, Norway and Dubai
The impressive, life-sized sculptures of bronze or marble composite bear witness to enormous craftsmanship. With the intense look in their eyes, made of semi-precious stones or glass eyes, they seem to come to life in this way.
We also come across his artworks in unexpected places. For example, Chris created the Europa League Man of the Match Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The brave award made via International Orange for Puma.
Chris has recently been asked by Cartier to accompany their presentations internationally with his images.
Chris Tap is a full-time visual artist since 1997.
In the years before, he received training from his father Wilhelmus Gerardus Theodorus Tap (Wim Tap)
Wim Tap had his son Chris collaborate on a number of monumental sculptures, including the Japanese garden in Artis, the javaplanstsoen, a series of sculptures that form the entrance to Flevolpark, a five-meter sculpture of freestone in Catharina van Clevepark

Because of my great fascination for the universe, I created unique and personal artworks that represent many solar systems with stars and planets.
Is started experimenting with panels and large round discs. hereby i use resoltions of 16000 x 16000 pixels so you can explore and maybe find all secrets inside.
By using different printing layers and settings, we were able to design a special 3D effects.
