CREATIVE KIDS
GRADES PREK - 2
This is a great after-school program to nurture your child’s creative side! We will experiment with a variety of materials and media to create unique and expressive works of art in a fun environment. Your child will have a blast… plus leave the mess with us!

DRAWING & PAINTING 2
GRADES 6-10
If your teen/preteen loves to explore art, this class will spark their interest with our amazing instructor Heather Lewis. Heather teaches college art classes at YCCC and is bringing her fun spirit and true talents to River Tree! Students will build upon their skills from the first session. The first session is NOT required to enroll for this 2nd session.

SEWING
GRADES 1-5
Join us in the exciting lifelong skill of sewing in this class where students will learn how to operate a sewing machine, understand cutting, construction, and fabric choice basics. Students will leave class with a completed useful project or two. All sewing students are invited to participate in River Tree Art’s first Spring 2020 Fashion Show!

METALSMITHING
GRADES 6-10
Learn the skills of metalsmithing to make pendants, rings, sculptures, and more with metals. Work with metalsmithing tools to form, shape & create your own designs. Hammering and soldering will be the main focus of the class. Each student will learn techniques to make their very own creations.

ART AROUND THE WORLD
GRADES 1-5
In this class, students explore art making around the world! They will learn about the art and crafts distinctive of different countries and cultures: from the Inuit sculptures, to Japanese ceramics, to African Gourd Instruments. Then, students will create craft and art pieces similar to those of each culture.

CLAY CLUB
GRADES 1-5
Back by popular demand, Clay Club offers young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity while experiencing everything clay! Students will experiment with a variety of hand-building techniques as well as using the wheel. All projects will be fired in the kiln and students will learn basic glazing applications to finish the work that they create to cherish for years.

INTRO to UKULELE
GRADES 2-5
In this introductory course, students will learn all about Ukuleles! From learning how to identify parts of their ukulele, tuning their instruments, to playing traditional and contemporary ukulele songs. A great class for all abilities & a fun, relaxed way to learn a string instrument.

Adult: LANDSCAPE PAINTING (ACRYLICS)
Learn to be fearless in your landscape painting. Six weeks of studio landscape painting in acrylics working with reference photos to paint what you see with glowing color and light. We will explore simplifying your subject, using drawing for strong compositions, developing seeing skills, learning or refreshing some basics, having fun with painting and loosening up with your work.

Adult: OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING
This is an introductory class where you will learn how to capture what you see on paper! With plenty of studio time working from set-ups, veteran artist/ teacher Heather Lewis will introduce you to age-old exercises and techniques. Gain confidence as your drawing skills develop!

Adult: WATERCOLORS  (Intermediate level)
Join Russel Whitten in the studio working from still lifes using watercolors! A great class for intermediate artists looking to fine tune their skills.

Adult: LIBRARY of HAND BOUND BOOKS
In this class, students will create 6 book structures: a simple pamphlet book, a Japanese Stab Bound book, a basic Codex, a hardcover accordion book, a hardcover book with signatures sewn on tapes, and flutter books. Class will focus on the techniques, structures, tools, materials and processes.

Adult: CERAMICS
Join ceramic artist, Brendan Roddy for a fun and informative, hands-in-clay experience. In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of hand building techniques to create beautiful and functional works of art inspired by the season. Demonstrations on the pottery wheel will give students the confidence to explore and create bowls, plates, mugs and more. The last week of class will be focused on basic glaze application and all work will be fired in RTA’s kiln which will make pottery durable and functional.

* Intermediate level students are welcome to join. If you have more experience, we can build on what you already know.

Mother/ Daughter Sewing & Tea Party

Sunday, November 3  (12-3pm)
Instructor: Serina Ruggeri
Fee: $75  (price includes one adult, one child, and all supplies)

 
Come join us for an afternoon of scones and tea in our mother-daughter tea and sewing workshop.

This is event is open to all and no sewing experience is necessary. Just bring your mom, daughter, or anyone who's been a 'mom' in your life for bonding time with traditional afternoon sewing. (fathers, sons, grandparents are welcome to join as well) 

 
Each pair will work together on their own machine. Together you'll learn how to operate your sewing machine and make a treasure to cherish forever.
You will be able to pick one of three projects: An apron, 2 hand towels, 2 pot holders. Recommended age of 8+. Workshop is limited to 5 pairs.

Do you have an intuitive child? Does your child see spirits? Does your child know things there is no way they should know? Does your child have trouble sleeping at night because of their sensitivities? Would you like to better support your child and their intuitive gifts? Children are sensitive by nature and there is a rise in intuition in the past decade.

Come join Melissa Boyd, International Medium who has been intuitive since she was 9 years old. Melissa worked for over 15 years in Child Family and Youth Development on the national level helping states and communities support children. Melissa will share advice and tips for supporting your intuitive child and will give you strategies to reduce anxiety and fear for the whole family about what intuition is and to not be frightened of it.

Each family will receive handouts on books and resources and Melissa will teach the group simple techniques for centering, mindfulness and bedtime routines to ensure you and your child feel empowered.

$30.00 for 2 people (adult and child or 2 adults)  REGISTER HERE
