Linguistics Colloquium 

Emily Atkinson, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science, will kick off the Linguistics Department colloquium series on Friday, October 4. She will present “Learning to process sentences: Insights from filler-gap dependencies and syntactic priming” at 4 p.m. in room R1240, Ross School of Business.  Refreshments will be served. Joy Peltier Presents at Dominica Country Conference


Linguistics graduate student Joy Peltier gave a talk at the 2019 Dominica Country Conference in August in Roseau, Dominica. The conference featured presentations and public forums aimed at promoting the preservation of Dominica’s creole heritage through language documentation, educational policies, tourism, and safeguarding of the island’s artistic traditions. Ian Calloway


Fifth-year graduate student Ian Calloway was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in coastal North Carolina--a diverse region of the country that inspired his passion for speech and language.
