BACKSTAGE
The Lunenburg Art Gallery presents every show with great care. The volunteer "hangers" arrive at 9:00 on the morning following Intake. They start by patching nail holes and touching up paint on the walls (with coffees, of course).
In the Members' Gallery (below, top), the wide variety of sizes and styles and mediums (56 pieces this month!) presents a huge challenge, which takes well into the afternoon to sort out. It's a lesson in teamwork, requiring diplomacy as well as a good eye. Once the plan is agreed upon, the art goes up.
In the Exhibitions Gallery (below, bottom), there are multiple works from three guest artists, and those are also laid out and moved around by a different crew until the display looks its best.
The undefended border between the two galleries (at the sales desk) needs negotiating too, so that everything flows. Then it's ready for your eyes!
We've shown you scenes from Intake days before; below are two more. With 40-50 members plus guest artists bringing in and taking out their art, there's always a conversation or someone to meet around the refreshment table.
BOARD CHANGES
The Lunenburg Art Gallery Society Board of Directors announces the following changes, effective at its September 10 meeting. Members will be invited to confirm these interim appointments at the AGM in late February 2020.
TREASURER: Peter Pattison's resignation was accepted by the Board, with thanks for the impressive workload he took on for the Society in the past year.
Kathy Fidyk, whom we met as a PSOS volunteer, was appointed Interim Treasurer.
MEMBER AT LARGE Joanne Young, a member of the HR Committee for the past year, was appointed as Interim Member At Large.
Welcome, Joanne and Kathy - and thank you!
The full Board is listed on our website HERE.
SPEAKING OF TRANSITIONS
An unintended consequence of moving our accounting to a professional bookkeeper while changing Treasurers has been a delay in issuing payments to some suppliers and artists. This does not reflect on any individual nor on our ability to pay. It's not how we aim to do business, and we send our apologies to any affected.  We're on it now! If you have a specific concern about payments owing you, please contact Jan Hull: president@lunenburgartsociety.ca.
