Exhibitions

Artist in precious metals Karin Sheldon will be showing her work at this year’s Wilmslow Art Trail - an annual favourite but this year with a difference. Under One Roof takes place at The United Reform Church halls in Wilmslow SK9 1PR. There you will find 21 Artists and Makers presenting their work over 2 days 12th Oct 10-5pm and 13th Oct 12-6pm.  

'Meet the Artists' is on Saturday 12th 5-7pm with refreshments and lots of chatting! Karin has new work to display and you may find something there that you did not expect. Parking nearby.

A selection of new work by Michela Griffith is now available from Cromford Studio and Gallery, including some of her colourful montages celebrating Buxton.  Meanwhile she’s busy getting out and making more art from water, as well as planning ahead for a forthcoming group exhibition at Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek.  Titled Small Worlds, it will feature affordable art by a group of 7 artists and makers, opening with a preview on Friday 8 November, continuing to Sunday 5 January.

Kiplin Hall near Richmond in North Yorkshire is hosting a wonderful exhibition of contemporary art entitled No Borders until the 30th October. PDA member Maggie Robinson is honoured to be showing work in this historic venue alongside several other artists invited by the Zillah Bell Gallery, and featuring the work of renowned artist and printmaker Norman Ackroyd CBE RA. The gallery is open: Tuesday-Friday 1pm-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 11am-5pm.

Maggie Robinson  will also be exhibiting her work again this year at Art&York. This is a 3 day show of art, design and contemporary craft set in the delightful Events Centre of York racecourse with over 120 exhibitors. With workshops, installations, demonstrations and a café, there is something for everyone.

Ian Daisley's High Stone Gallery will be open October 26th - 27th, 10am to 4pm. The gallery is the showcase for Ian's landscape photography with a varied selection of framed and mounted, limited edition prints for sale. Ian will also be on hand to explain his creative process - a fascinating insight and definitely not "just a photograph"

Handmade For Christmas, Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. Mixed Media Narrative artist Ingrid Katarina Karlsson has been invited to contribute her work to this seasonal exhibition at the beautiful Millennium Gallery, with gifts created by talented artists and makers from across the region and beyond.

Ingrid is showing specially commissioned boxed canvas place-mapping pieces, as well as a brand new range for her, unique mixed media brooches.
Friday 25th October - Sunday 29th December 2019 open every day 10am-5pm, Thursday 10am-8pm, Sunday 11am-4pm;

Brian Robinson will be showing his work in an exhibition entitled Pre Christmas Extravaganza in The Art Room, Wilkin Hill Barlow S18 7TE from  21st to 27th October 11am – 3-30 pm daily. It will be the first showing of his new colourful landscape work.

Ongoing Exhibitions

8 Women in Print continues at the Bessemer Gallery until Sunday 1st December featuring work by Cath Dunn and seven established printmakers from Sheffield. The exhibition runs from Monday 16 September to  

The Manchester Academy of Fine Art annual exhibition in Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery continues until November 1st. New MAFA member, Maggie Robinson, is showing 3 of her ‘Music of the Landscape’ paintings. Well worth a visit

Workshop Dates

As the cooler days and darker nights encourage us inside, it’s time to think about learning some new creative skills. 

Spend a relaxing and productive day at The Slipper Studio on the edge of the Peak District, with Liz Wellby and choose from 3 creative workshops. Don’t forget that Bert, Studio Cat, will be there to meet and greet.

A Field Breaks workshop with Maggie Robinson is taking place on Saturday 19th October in The Art Room Barlow. The theme of the day is Tonal value – why it matters in painting. To make a booking to join her for this informative and helpful day do contact sue@fieldbreaks.co.uk

Our Next Event

Our popular Winter Artisan Fair will take place again in the Whitworth Centre Darley Dale on 9th/10th November
22 artisans will be taking part offering a diverse range of gifts including fine art, ceramics, jewellery, glass and wood. 

Finally there is still just time to enter our Emerging Artist/Maker-Designer Award. Closing date for Entries is 2nd October.
Even if you don't fit the criteria for this competition we are always delighted to welcome new members to PDA and the deadline for our autumn intake is also 2nd October.
