Hello, Ward 6!

In this month's issue: new intersection improvements, park openings, town halls, census data and more!

Intersection Improvements in Ward 6

Earlier this month, I participated in a traffic road tour with Troy McLeod, the Director of Roads at the City of Calgary, the Calgary Police Service and senior officials from the City’s Transportation Department.

Together, we toured problem areas including Old Banff Coach Road, Bow Trail, 85th Street, and drove through our communities including Glamorgan, Springbank Hill, and West Springs.

Road tours are an effective way for us to determine high concern areas, and to readily seek a solution with the City’s transportation departments.

With that in mind, and based on feedback from previous tours, I am pleased to see the following changes will be made.

New signals have been installed, or are in the process of being installed at the following intersections:

  • Cougar Ridge Drive/ 89th Street – Old Banff Coach Road SW
  • Bow Trail – 77 Street SW
  • Springbank Boulevard – 69th Street SW
  • Strathcona Drive – Strathdale Close

The traffic signals at the following intersections will be modified or upgraded this year:

  • Bow Trail – Old Banff Coach Road/ Strathcona Boulevard SW
  • 17th Avenue – Christie Park Gate/ Simcoe BV SW
  • 26 Avenue – 37 Street SW
  • 46 Avenue/ Richardson Way- 37 Street SW

Grand Opening of the Signal Hill Community Park
Congratulations to the Signal Hill community on the creation of their new park! This is a great example of neighbours working hard to create a vision and better their community.
