Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that it is already October.  As we enter into fall, let us share with you some things that have happened since we returned from South Africa. In August, soon after returning home, we took a three-week trip to Florida and Georgia, a mix of ministry and pleasure.
Chip had the opportunity to preach at New Hope Church in Orlando for pastors Joe & Kim Palm. Chip and Joe were MDiv students at ORU together. What a blessing it was to spend some time with Joe and Kim and minister in their church. If you are in Orlando, we recommend visiting New Hope Worship Center. (Church Information)

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Would you like Chip to minister at your church or some other event? Click HERE or email mollie@sonriseintl.com. We are looking for more opportunities in the USA for Chip to share the story of what God is doing in WACA.

From Orlando, we drove to Vero Beach to celebrate the 85th birthday of Chip’s mom, Martha. Almost everyone from Chip’s side of the family gathered to celebrate her. We had a great family reunion! Martha is a blessing to all of us and a faithful prayer warrior for the ministry.

We then drove to Atlanta, GA, stopping for lunch in Jacksonville, FL with Duane Erickson, a close friend and board member.  In Atlanta we spent a couple of days with Bill & Nena Gulbrandsen. Bill is also on our Board of Directors. While visiting Bill and Nena, we were able to meet with the Nigerian embassy (the country that Chip was denied a Visa this summer). After finding out that “Visa on Arrival” applications are processed in Abuja, we were encouraged to re-apply for a visa. Chip has now received a multi-entry visa good until September 2021.  Halleluiah! We praise God for securing this multi-entry visa, which will be used for his upcoming trip in October and several times next year, Lord willing!

Before flying home from Georgia, we went to Tyler and Nicole Woodruff’s wedding. Tyler is one of our nephews on Kathy’s side of the family. It was nice to spend time with both sides of our family on this recent trip and catch up with some friends that have encouraged us in the vision the Lord has given us to accomplish.

UPCOMING TRIP

Chip is preparing for an upcoming trip to West Africa from October 23 through November 17. We thank you in advance for your prayers.  The countries he plans to visit are listed below with brief prayer requests.
  • Senegal – Chip flies from Tulsa to Dakar, Senegal on Oct. 23-24, where he will meet with Paul, a WACA team member, who is flying from Conakry, Guinea. They plan to spend Oct. 25-26 there with Guy and Nathalie who are currently coordinating Senegal. When Chip flies to Mali, Paul will travel through Senegal to The Gambia, Cassamance (southern Senegal), and Guinea Bissau encouraging and exhorting our coordination teams there. We are asking the Lord to also make a way and open the door to another country that we believe the Holy Spirit has been highlighting to us in the last months. Please ask the Lord to give us sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit and His timing, for the doors to open, for favor, and for wisdom.
  • Mali - On Sunday, Oct. 27, Chip flies to Bamako, Mali to have two separate meetings that will overlap for several days with the two church associations of Mali. Essentially, the Lord has given us great favor to speak to the entire Church there! We currently have about six Live Schools operating in Mali, but believe this is the time the Lord wants to add much momentum to the Church there. We are expecting these meetings to be significant and bear much fruit.  All we hear on the news is the bad news happening in the Sahel region, but God is doing an amazing work there! May God be exalted and the Malian Church be encouraged and empowered during our time with them! Please pray for boldness and favor as Chip and the team from Burkina Faso minister to the Church in Mali. Pray for good fruit to come from these meetings. Pray that Live School would help to unify the church in this land.
  •  Chad – While Moise and the Burkina Faso team finish ministering, Chip flies to N’djamena, Chad on November 2 to spend some time with Justin, who is providing oversight to the work in Central Africa. He will also spend the week imparting to the Leadership Development Academy students during their last week of school. On November 7, the LDA students graduate. Please pray over this time with Justin, as we will be discussing the future development of a more empowered WACA Team.
  • NigeriaOn November 8th, Chip flies to Abuja, Nigeria and will spend time with the ministries translating and dubbing Live School into Hausa. The translation is 42% done and must be complete by May 2020.  This will allow us to have the Hausa Live School units ready to launch by the end of August.  While we have faced delays, the Lord will see this project through to completion, for the Hausa People Group is the largest Unreached People Group in West and Central Africa. Please pray the translation and dubbing team understand the urgency to get this project completed. There is a saying, “Time is money.” This is way more important than that! In this case, literally, “Time is souls!” Countless thousands will enter into an eternal personal relationship with our Father through faith in Jesus Christ, as a result of indigenous missionaries being trained with the Hausa Live School!
  • TogoOn November 14th Chip is scheduled to fly to Lomé, Togo and spend several days with our East Gold Coast Team (Benin and Togo). While in Togo, he will be coordinating details for our 2020 WACA Team Meeting to be held there. Please pray for good communication to the East Gold Coast Team of all the logistics that need to be scheduled and done for this WACA Team Meeting and for them to take “ownership” of them.  Also, trust God with us that Chip recognize the venue we need and be able to negotiate a competitive price for it.   On November 17, Chip finally flies home in time for Thanksgiving. After such a trip, there is no doubt Chip will be thankful to be home with his family!

TAKE A TRIP WITH US

We have made the Togo trip available to a select number of people.  Please prayerfully consider attending this trip with us.  It will be a 10-day trip. The first day or so, you will meet and hear from our WACA Team, as they share some of the stories and testimonies of what God is doing in their countries. Then, we will split into smaller teams and embark on a trip upcountry to designated places, where we will hold Pastor Meetings, train facilitators and do outreach. Before flying home, we plan to spend a day debriefing and swapping testimonies. Our goal is for you to see what really happens in WACA, to experience how God uses ordinary believers like you and me to do His extra-ordinary work! It will not be an easy trip, but it will have eternal rewards and give you insight into how God is breathing upon the WACA region for His glory in this hour. Click HERE for more information.

Database Update
Thank you for your continued support! We often say, “It is going to take the entire Body of Christ working together to fulfill the Great Commission” (Phil 1:27). Every member of the Body of Christ is important. Your partnership with us in prayer and giving is resulting in 1,000’s of indigenous missionaries being trained in local, rural churches across WACA, who are making disciples and planting churches among the neediest! To think that we began this work just 10 years ago is shocking! Only God could do such a thing! To Him be the glory! As we each do our part in Christ, may the glory of the Lord fill the earth!

Love,
Chip & Kathy Carroll

May the Lord's blessings rest on you, that all nations might know His glory. (Genesis 12:1-3 & Psalms 67:1-2)
