Dear Friend,
Thank you for supporting the Lab of Ornithology. The next FeederWatch season is around the corner and we are celebrating with a new poster of backyard hawks and falcons! The gorgeous paintings were done by the Bartel's Science Illustration Intern Jessica French and the species were carefully chosen by FeederWatch staff. Join Project FeederWatch to receive this limited edition poster Common Backyard Hawks and Falcons of North America. Hurry, because we will stop sending hawk posters on October 1!
What is Project FeederWatch?
Project FeederWatch is a winter-long survey of birds that visit your backyard. You simply identify and count the birds outside your window, then enter your counts online.
"This was my first year FeederWatching and I was amazed at how therapeutic it was! During my count on day one, I realized how I had been taking my birds for granted. Sitting quietly and watching my feeders fills my heart with lots of joy!
–Cindy Newell, Roanoke, VA
FeederWatching is flexible
The amount of time you spend observing is up to you. If you have an irregular schedule or go out of town frequently, simply count on the weeks when you have time. Even a 5-minute count while you have your morning coffee is valuable.
"My favorite thing is waking up early, brewing a pot of coffee, and watching the first birds arrive at our feeders."
–Andrew Schaak, Jordan, MN
Participants will receive:
- FeederWatch Handbook & Instructions
- Full-color poster of common feeder birds
- Bird-Watching Days Calendar
- Our annual report, Winter Bird Highlights
- Digital access to Living Bird magazine
- This September only: Limited edition hawk poster!
Sign up now for $18 ($15 for current Lab Members) and enjoy this limited edition hawk poster. Your contribution is tax deductible and keeps the project running; without it, Project FeederWatch wouldn't be possible.
We hope to hear about the birds at your feeders!
Sincerely,
Emma Greig
