Get Creative! Set aside time and mental space for creativity as you make visual poetry and expressive artworks in paint and ink. Frequently their polarized conversations do not go or end well.  Better Angels Skills Workshops help participants learn listening and speaking skills for having respectful conversations that clarify differences and identify common ground.

Grant Davis is a Sophomore Electrical Engineering student from Beavercreek, OR. In 2018 LEGO started producing a functioning LEGO Popup book that Grant imagined and designed which is now being distributed globally. Grant will share about his LEGO career, how he came up with his idea, and the process behind getting to work with the largest toy company in the world.

VOLUNTEER
When you volunteer, everyone wins

Looking to do something meaningful in your week? Hoping to connect with like-minded people? Exploring options for a career? Volunteering gets you involved with others and engaged with your community and looks great on a resume. Just 2-3 hours a week makes a big difference at your library!

We are now accepting applications for positions with a minimum six-month commitment. Ages 14+.

Circulation: Calling all avid readers and organizers! Sort and shelve library materials. Weekday and weekend openings in Circulation at Bethany and Cedar Mill Libraries. 
Two-hour shift once a week.

Technology Lab: Are you experienced with smart phones? Can you text a photo, download ebooks, or retrieve voicemail? Bring your device savvy to the library and help technology novices navigate their phones, laptops and e-readers.
Thursdays, 3-5pm at Cedar Mill Library.

Bethany Library Craft Prep: Cut out shapes, count buttons, snip string, and more. Help prepare craft materials for Youth Programs at Bethany Library. Take home work and check in bi-weekly with the librarians.

Book Check-in: Early literacy leads to later success. Help with Bookshare, our children’s outreach program that facilitates the sharing of books with young children at childcare sites. Check in books and prepare them to circulate.
Two hour shift, once a week at Cedar Mill Library's BookShare Office.

BookShare Driver: Deliver boxes of books to the childcare sites we serve. Our books, your car.
2nd Tuesday of each month, 9:30-11:30am.

2nd Edition Resale Shop:  Join the great crew that supports the library’s permanent fund raiser! Sort and prepare donations for resale, or help provide great customer service in the shop as a cashier.
One 3-hour shift per week, weekday and weekend shifts available.

Book Club Co-leaders for Adult Outreach: Two-person teams lead a monthly book discussion at a senior living community, where avid readers enjoy conversation about books and reading. Read the book, prepare the readers’ guide, and run the discussion.
One day/month. Own transportation required.
 
Book Processing: Join our processing crew and see what’s new! With precision and care, prepare new books for their lives as library books as you follow guidelines to apply stamps, stickers and identifiers to new library materials.
Fridays, 9-11am at Cedar Mill Library.
