One recent morning, two conversations included the topic of slowing down, taking more time for being present and for quiet. Within hours, more opportunities presented themselves to me for the next couple of weeks, joining two or three already scheduled. Instant message? It is not my time to slow down...not quite yet. And...as you will read, these are all good things!

HOME: PEACE AT TOUCAN GALLERY

What does does home mean to you? What reminds you of home? What makes home? Comfort? A place in nature? A community? An object? People?
Children from Saint Luke's Enrichment Center will be joining me in the gallery the week of October 7th to add their ideas to the ovals on the wall. The Billings Public Schools' Quest students will be creating some during my time with them next week. Those who come to my Wednesday w/ Sherri presentation will be invited to participate. YOU ARE INVITED TO COME BY THE GALLERY or WEDNESDAY W/ SHERRI CORNETT (see below) to add your thoughts and images to this evolving, community-engaged installation.

TEACHING SCULPTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Another teaching opportunity for me! As a partner with Billings Public Schools' Quest Program and the smart, creative, joyous folks who run it: Quest Specialists Spencer Anderson, Nadine Barnett and Deanna O'Neil and Quest Liaison Tammy Hetland (who taught my own children in elementary school!), I will be working in the gifted and talented classrooms this year. Beginning next week, we will be talking about artists who create art to engender dialogue about environmental issues, about collaboration and idea creation and how they might go about creating their own works for their final project. And, adding to my Home : Peace installation by talking about our world, our environment as home. These students are spending the year investigating our bioregion, consequences of city growth, and ways for our city and county to move forward ... Science+Human Behavior+Creative Expression.
