The Dodos Share New Single "The Atlantic"
Northeast Fall Tour Starts Today in Boston
Performing 2008's Visiter in Brooklyn on 10/12

Today San Francisco indie duo The Dodos have shared a new track - their second one-off release of 2019 - "The Atlantic." Explaining the meaning behind their latest single, singer and guitarist Meric Long shared –

"The Atlantic is a song about the limitations of what you can see if you don't surround yourself with people that challenge you. In the first couple years of knowing my partner, the Atlantic ocean was literally between us, and now when we disagree and see things very differently it can feel like that ocean still exists metaphorically."

"It's meant as a love letter, but one that honors our differences because seeing through each other's facade was what brought us together."

Following the release of March's "The Surface," which captured the band returning to their frenetic acoustic folk pop roots, "The Atlantic" explores The Dodos' signature trademarks without treading water. With acoustic fingerpicking, softly layered synthesizers, and Logan Kroeber's pounding drums, "The Atlantic" builds like waves in the ocean, rising with a beautiful sense of tension before culminating in a calming halt.

The Dodos kick off a short Northeast run today starting in Boston. The four day trek will also make stops in Philadelphia and DC before ending in Brooklyn, where the band will perform their 2008 sophomore release, Visiter, in honor of Frenchkiss Records' 20 Year Anniversary. All tour dates onsale now.
