We need volunteers for KBAD's most important event of the year!

It may be an “off" election year, but things are hopping in Kyle and Buda with a lot of great ways to get involved!

This Saturday, Sept. 28, Kyle/Buda-Area Democrats and the Erin Zwiener campaign are teaming up to kick-off our election efforts going into 2020.

To cap off National Voter Registration Month and prepare for the November 2019 election featuring state constitutional amendments and municipal candidates, we’re having a mega-event with a little something for everyone. Come for part of it, or spend the whole day with us!

The Details

Learn, register, educate

We’ll start at Nate’s in Buda at 9:30 a.m. with an informational session about  messaging around Hays County’s move to countywide voting centers and the new voting machines as well as the best ways to get Democrats out to vote in the November 2019 elections.

Voter engagement and building relationships is a year-round effort, and laying the groundwork now is crucial to our success we continue to ramp up over the next year. The work we put in now will pay off when it matters most.

This will be the first election with both countywide polling places and the new voting equipment. It is in many ways a trial run, and the more people who vote this November, the smoother the 2020 primary and general elections will be.

After the info session, we’ll have a quick training and set up everyone to use Map the Vote, a fabulous new tool for registering voters and cleaning up our voter list going into 2020. Then we’ll test it out by walking nearby areas of Buda that have a city council election in November.

New walkers welcome

This block walk is focused on basic voter education and voter registration, which we believe is a fantastic way to try block walking.

New walkers will be teamed up with someone with experience. We hope you’ll give it a try, because block walking will be central to our 2020 strategy for electing Democrats in Hays County and beyond.

You do NOT need to be a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) to participate. Map the Vote allows anyone to help register voters. If you are a Hays County VDR, bring your voter registration supplies. Using the phone app is also NOT required to participate because we will also have traditional paper lists of doors we can knock.

Can’t walk Saturday, but want to learn more?

Please feel free to come to the info session even if you’re not able to block walk. The info session starts at 9:30 a.m., and it’s important to learn for the next opportunities.

Party! Party! Party!

Around noon we’ll meet back up at Nate’s and then go to a volunteer appreciation pool party! KBAD members have graciously agreed to open their home and provide burgers, hot dogs and all of the fixings. Feel free to bring a side dish, dessert, or your choice of beverages.

Even if you can't attend the morning session, you're welcome to join us for the volunteer appreciation pool party in the afternoon. This is a celebration of all KBADers who've done so much over the past year and a kick-off of our work for 2020!

Please RSVP at the Mobilize link so we can get a good head count and plan appropriately. There are separate events listed, so you can select just the morning or afternoon sessions or both.

Kids are not only welcomed they’re encouraged!

See you there!
