Student loan debt is a national crisis and is especially devastating for Black millennials. A recent study found that a whopping 87% of Black millennials have some form of student loan debt, with almost 60% of us owing more than $50,000 (nearly double the national average).
BET News aired a special last weekend titled "Young, Gifted and Broke: Our Student Loan Crisis." Hosted by Angela Rye, the show included U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar and author Michael Arceneaux. The format gave me flashbacks to old school BET and the Teen Summit days, and is worth watching.
