FINDING VICTORY & DEFEATING DANGER:
AN ISRAELI-AMERICAN VISION FOR THE NEW YEAR

We are seeing more attacks against our heritage, our past, and our homeland.

What can we expect next year? What will be the challenges we face?

The answer is simple:
if we do not stand up for ourselves, then who will stand up for us?

As we look ahead to the new year in our ICAN communities across the country, we have a vision to get every Israeli-American family, especially our mothers and millennials, civically engaged to create positive change for a better America, a more secure Israel, and a stronger U.S. - Israel alliance.

In fact, earlier this year, ICAN made history as it lobbied the United States Senate to introduce resolution 143 celebrating and recognizing the contributions of the Israeli-American immigrant community, recognizing our rights, and opposing discrimination from anti-Israel movements.

In California, ICAN state chair Vered Elkouby Nisim is leading the way with major success protecting our Israeli-American students in California high schools as she advocated for the cities of Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles, to pass resolutions condemning a proposed anti-Jewish and anti-Israel ethnic studies curriculum.

Vered's daughter, Danielle, has been nominated to chair the ICAN California Next-Generation Youth Board and has already recruited top millennial Israeli-American members to help advance advocacy efforts at the capitol, city halls, and digital initiatives.

In Nevada, ICAN state chair Sigal Chattah is working to bring Israeli businesses to Las Vegas, in what she rightfully recognizes as the "next step" to fighting the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement by promoting economic development through partnerships, investments, and collaboration.

In Massachusetts, ICAN state chair Robert Mayer is leading the way to support a piece of legislation which will mandate Holocaust and genocide education in public schools, recognizing that teaching tolerance is crucial to fighting anti-Semitism.

Following California's lead, Washington State is also working on establishing their own ethnic studies curriculum and ICAN is working to ensure that pro-Israel and Israeli-American voices are on the advisory committee writing the curriculum.

Nationally, and in states and cities across the country, ICAN will continue to fight discrimination against our community, stop BDS, promote tolerance through Holocaust education, work to keep our schools safe, and ensure that the special alliance between the United States and Israel remains strong anchored in a respect for our community's unique heritage.

And the best part is that you can get involved and make a big difference, for your family, for your community, and for your country.

Take action below and join ICAN in your state.
