Elsewhere in Woden, community consultation is underway for a new community space in the upstairs of the Woden Library, and the Town Team Movement held a successful 'place making' meeting with the aim of building a Woden Town Team.

We are also very excited to announce we will be holding a community arts fair in Woden this December, with performances by local musicians, lots of great workshops for kids, and a number of wonderful arts organisations showcasing what they do for the community.

URBAN SKETCHING WORKSHOP

20 November, 10 am - 12 noon
Meeting opposite the Chifley Shops

We are delighted to announce that after the great success of her previous Urban Sketching workshop, Leonie Andrews will be returning to Woden to deliver another.

Urban sketching is the art of capturing the spirit of a location, indoors or out, by sketching from direct observation. These drawings tell the stories of the places we live or visit, and of the people we know or meet.

Leonie Andrews is an active member of the growing community of Urban Sketchers working across Canberra. This workshop will give participants the opportunity to work with Leonie to develop new observational drawing skills, working with watercolour pencils and water-brushes.

This workshop is FREE, and all materials are provided.

Bookings are essential!

Earlier this month there was a very successful Place Making Workshop held in Woden, which brought interested community members together to explore ways to become directly involved in future events and activations and create an even stronger Woden Community.

The project aims to initiate a Woden Town Team, which is a group of community members working in partnership with government to make a positive difference, increase vibrancy, support local businesses and create a more connected and resilient community. Activities that town teams drive can range from street parties, long table dinners, local business campaigns, play streets, art murals, etc.

The next tentative meeting date is Wednesday, 30 October from 6pm at No. 10 Bar & Restaurant.
