Wednesday Oct. 2 - First of a special three-part series with Intern John Rossman, in which he leads us into territory previously unexplored: the world of Frank Zappa. 
Thursday Oct. 3 - John and pals discuss Frank, Mothers and others. Discogs just lists the 299 releases under Zappa's name, so there's plenty to chat about. 
Friday Oct. 4 - Part three of the John/Zappa exploration. You know John is involved in another podcast right? And you know you should subscribe, right? Good, just checking.

Beatles - Abbey Road (50th Anniversary Edition) (Apple)
New mixes, outtakes, demos. Beatles superfans will find more to mine from this expanded edition. But to one member of Team Suburbs Pod, nothing will sound better than the worn, scratchy LP his aunt game him as a teen.

Dori Freeman - Every Single Star (Blue Hens)
This singer-songwriter hails from an Appalachian area of southwestern Virginia where country music was born. On her third album, she continues to carry the torch for traditional music, with simple songs that cut right through your soul.

David Hasselhoff - Open Your Eyes (Cleopatra)
The Hoff, who we know is huge in Germany, releases a covers album that somehow celebrates the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Got that? Among the artists he covers are Lords of the New Church, Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo & the Bunnymen and David Bowie. And among the album's guest stars are the Cars’ Elliot Easton, Ministry’s Al Jourgenson and the Stooges’ James Williamson. Yes, we just typed all those words.

New Pornographers - In the Morse Code of Brake Lights (Concord)
The indie supergroup, featuring A.C. Newman and Neko Case, returns with its eighth album. You won’t like it unless you’re into intelligent lyrics, beautiful harmonies and catchy pop melodies.

Replacements - Dead Man’s Pop (Rhino)
Thirty years after the Replacements released the album that pretty much sank the band — the glossy commercial attempt Don’t Tell a Soul — they get a do-over. This box set includes the obligatory bonus tracks of demos and live recordings (plus a collaboration with Tom Waits), but the real attraction is a mix of DTAS that attempts to correct the studio sins of the original release.

Sturgill Simpson - Sound & Fury (Elektra)
After two albums in which Americana hero Simpson was heavily influenced by ‘70s outlaw country, it’s somehow seems a natural evolution that this record pulls from ‘80s synth-rock. We’d say grunge is next, but he’s already covered Nirvana …

Tegan and Sara - Hey, I’m Just Like You (Sire)
This Canadian duo dug up the cassette tapes of demos they made as teenagers two decades ago and then reworked those early songs to match their current sound. In the process, they revisit the struggles of growing up from a more mature point of view. But really, you had us at cassettes.
