October 2019 Newsletter

From Mr. Phillips, Head of School

It’s hard to believe that we have completed two months of school already! God has blessed CBS with a great group of students and a fantastic faculty and staff. I cannot thank you all enough for partnering with us here at Curtis.

As we look forward to the events of October, we want to remind everyone of the following dates. there will be a half day on Friday, October 11 (early release at 11:30 am), no school on Monday, October 14, for Columbus Day, and no school on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25. On October 24 and 25, our faculty will be going to Eagles Landing Christian Academy for a day and a half of professional development training with ACSI. These forums are very beneficial for our faculty and attending this conference will help our faculty to continue to learn and grow in their field so that we can provide the best education possible for our students here at Curtis. Please pray for our faculty during that time.

- Mr. Scott Phillips, Head of School

Daycare & Preschool News

Happy fall, y'all! Our daycare and preschool has been happy to enjoy the cooler weather lately, and all of our classes have started to "fall" deep into their lessons. During September we have enjoyed seeing our new students blossom into a part of our Curtis family. We are currently working on last minute details for our new two-year-old room that is opening soon. We are excited to embrace some new families! Do not forget: the CBS Fall Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 5, with family fun from 10 am - 2 pm!

Elementary School News

Thank you to our Grandparents for celebrating Grandparents Day with us at the end of September.  The kids did an amazing job.

Our 1st 9 weeks Parent Conference Day is on Thursday, October 17, from 3:30 pm - 6 pm. Please be on the look out for an email from your child's teacher to set up a conference time. It is hard to believe the 1st 9 weeks is coming to a close; students will be issued report cards on October 17.

I am grateful for each day that I get to serve the Curtis Family!

- Mrs. Lisa Ingle, Elementary School Principal

Middle & High School News

Things are continuing to “Fall” in place in our High School and Middle School as we rapidly approach the halfway point of the first semester.  The seniors are enjoying their privileges which include an extra t-shirt day and off-campus lunches. The Beta Club has elected officers and added new members. The Student Council recently represented CBS at the Fall Conference in Columbia.

Our Middle School students are diligently reading to earn their A. R. points and enjoying outdoor activities during social time. The sixth and seventh grade classes had the opportunity to experience “hands-on” science learning at the Ruth Patrick Science Center. And they all like Middle School chapel with Mr. Phillips, especially when he brings the “Vitamin T”.

We want to congratulate our Student of the Month recipients Annie Weston (Middle School) and Makayla Kirkpatrick (High School). These young ladies were chosen by the faculty in recognition of their Christ-like attitude and kindness toward others.

- Mr. Larry Ford, Middle and High School Principal
