Two Casts Selected

Cast members have been selected for both our fall presentation of Bob's Your Elf (above) and our winter production of Born Yesterday (below). Pictured are the first script read-through meetings by each cast taken earlier this summer. (Wine seems to be a common theme of both shows!). Bob's Your Elf is currently in full swing of rehearsals, while Born Yesterday will commence rehearsals in mid-October.

It will require some tricky time management and sharing of real estate as both plays will be rehearsing in SOAP Theatre's Big Blue building on alternating days over a 6 week period. The two show directors, Denny Kaulback and Tom Szalay, claim to have worked out suitable arrangements. Let's hope so!

FULL-SEASON & PART-SEASON PASSES
Bob's Your Elf
November 29 to December 7
Bob the Elf is banished from the North Pole for his bad attitude. Santa sends him to help with a small-town Christmas pageant, where he meets a group of bumbling actors trying to put on Christmas show.
Of course, undecided on a theme, they combine the Nativity, A Christmas Carol, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Night Before Christmas into one show.
This is a hilarious family comedy filled with holiday spirit.

Born Yesterday
February 7 to February 15
Just when politics has lost its sense of humour, in rides Billie Dawn on a breath of fresh air. Her smarts are buried under layers of satin and showgirl sass but are highly combustible. When her powerful and shady boyfriend, Harry Brock, sets out to buy a senator, he decides Billie needs a bit more class and he hires journalist, Paul Verrall, to make her appear more intelligent.
But a little education can go a long way, and Billie may be smarter than her “friends” give her credit for. A hilarious and (though written and set in 1946) a timely parody of politics and perceptions in today’s society.
Suitable for ages 13 and older.

Flaming Idiots
April 24 to May 2
Carl and Phil aren’t moving up at the post office and believe that big money is waiting for people with entrepreneurial spirit and sound business judgement. They have lots of the spirit but little of the judgement, and their new restaurant flounders.
Zippy’s, a popular crosstown spot, has been crowded ever since a notorious mobster was shot there over 20 years ago. What if someone could get murdered in their restaurant?
A farce, suitable for all ages.
