Compact Pipeline Service Compressor (PSC)

Compact recently delivered another innovation in compression technology, to Marler Integrity. The Compact Pipeline Service Compressor alleviates the need to burn, flare or vent gas in a pipeline that needs to be drained for service. Approached with a concept, CCI developed a technology to empty the pipeline, routing the gas into an adjacent line equivalent to that lines pressure. Maximum pressure capabilities of up to 1200 psi / 8300 kPa. The PSC has already exceeded expectations on several jobs for local gas distribution companies since its initial debut a few short months ago.

FROM THE FIELD

HCG Compressor Turns Flared Gas into a Source of Revenue
An operator in southern Alberta recently approached CCI with an interesting challenge. Gas from a group separator at a small oil battery was being flared at the battery, resulting in higher reportable emissions and wasted energy. A HCG15 compressor was plumbed between the gas discharge line on the group separator and the emulsion line to the central processing facility several kilometers downstream. Now, the gas from the wells feeding the small battery is conserved and is either used as fuel gas at the CPF or sold to the natural gas utility.

The HCG compressor is ideally suited for this type of application because it easily and reliably handles gas with high liquids content. The operator also appreciates the No Hassle Service Plan that provides peace of mind that the compressor will be working at industry-leading uptime. The success of the HCG compressor in this application has led the operator to look at installing more HCGs at other oil batteries.

Unloading CSS / SAGD Wells to Accelerate Well Intervention
When everything is working according to plan, CSS and SAGD wells are very prolific producers. However, when the inevitable downhole pump failure occurs, it can be an time-consuming and expensive proposition to reduce the wellbore pressure to the point where a service rig can safely be moved on to the well.

One operator of a large CSS project in the Cold Lake Oil Sands routinely performed this operation using a VRU-style compressor available on the well pad. This resulted in fouling of the cooler and accelerated wear on other components of the compressor, sometimes causing breakdowns in the midst of the depressurization operation.

Having learned about its unparalleled liquid handling capability, an operator decided to trial an HCG Compressor to rapidly reduce the pressure on a well under simulated artificial lift failure conditions. The test was a success, reducing the pressure more quickly than expected and was able to handle slugs of hot emulsion without issue.

The HCG compressor is now being incorporated into the operator’s standard practice for depressurizing their CSS wells because of its ability to accelerate the time to return wells back to production and greatly reduce maintenance and repair costs on the more VRU compressor

Another SkyView Story
Administration at one of our customers were reconciling their PSV database with the list of Unit Numbers, Well Names and PSV S/Ns. There were a few discrepancies since sometimes the HCG does not make is to the original AFE location. However, by providing them access to SkyView, they were able to quickly look up the unit numbers and find the correct LSD and UWID, since these are updated by the techs during a new installation or equipment moves.

STAFF UPDATES

Terry Hysert Retirement!
After 16 years with the Company, Terry Hysert finally threw in the towel to take on fishing, hunting and complete the never ending "honey-do lists"!  Starting with Compact in the early days, Terry was instrumental in building the business,  increasing oil and gas production in the WCSB with the sale of nearly 1200 compressors in his portfolio. The employees of Compact Compression recognize that his daily efforts for a considerable part of his life contributed significantly to the success of the company. We wish him many relaxing days ahead!

With the retirement of Terry Hysert as Sales Manager in June, Chris Scrupa, P.Eng. has taken on the role of Business Development Manager. Chris has the wherewithal to deliver.

Dave Pinette, Senior Service Technician has assumed the position of Service Manager. Having been active with Compact for over 12 years and counting, Dave brings knowledge and experience  ̶̶̶̶̶  key to managing our expanding service department.

SERVICE

NEW Grande Prairie Region, AB Field Office Officially Open!
Increasing market penetration in Northern Alberta has prompted the need for additional manpower. Compact Compression is pleased to announce the opening of our Grande Prairie Field Office. With over 30 years experience, Malcolm Tranberg, Field Service Tech joined Compact in June to oversee our Northern Alberta operations.

We've Moved! Our Stoughton, SK Field Office has moved location
Due to continued growth and expansion, our Stoughton Field Office moved into a larger, more centralized building late this summer. As of this week we would also like to welcome Vince Gilroy, Field Service Tech to our Stoughton location.

Did You Know?
Compact has a fully stocked OEM Parts Department for our complete line of discontinued and current models of compressors! Yes, our original line of Casing Gas Compressors (CG) and Natural Gas Booster Compressors (CC) are still fully operational throughout Western Canada!

Sourcing maintenance and repairs can be a tedious task, and usually end up costing more for generic non-standard replacement parts or untrained service personnel. Our OEM trained Parts and Service Departments are here to assist you with maintenance or repair services or parts - generally for a fraction of the cost compared to outsourcing.
