Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter!
Dear <<First Name>>,

Autumn is in full swing! This month we've got a new video about indoor aerosol sources, new publications, and exciting news: Season 2 of Home Diagnosis by Corbett and Grace Lunsford will be making its public television debut. The show will feature several IndoorChem grantees. Thanks for all of your continued contributions to our vibrant community!
Project Highlight: Analytical Platforms for the Detection of Reactive Nitrogen Indoors
"The reactive nitrogen species, nitrous acid (HONO), ammonia (NH3), and amines (NR3) are critical to chemistry of the outdoor environment. These species are also expected to impact indoor chemistry. To understand this chemistry, accurate quantitative measurements of HONO, NH3, and NR3 that are suitable for routine application to indoor environments are necessary."
PI: Trevor Vandenboer (York University)

Our top tweet in September: "'Frying pans, ovens and toasters can all emit particulate matter. A study earlier this year found that cooking a roast dinner can create air pollution that is on a par with the world’s smoggiest cities. So make sure to turn on that extractor fan.' ft.com/pollutiontips”

"Although the O3 flux dominates OH flux under most conditions, OH flux can be responsible for as much as 10% of total oxidant uptake to otherwise low‐reactivity surfaces. Further, OH chemistry differs from that for ozone; therefore, its deposition is important in understanding the chemical evolution of some indoor surfaces and surface films."

By Rachel O'Brien

"Grantees from the Chemistry of Indoor Environments program will be presenting results in multiple platform and poster sessions. In addition, there will be a Sloan-sponsored symposium on “The air we breathe: indoor aerosol sources and chemistry” which will feature four platform sessions and one poster session taking place all day on Thursday and Friday, October 17th and 18th."
