1. Updates

Hello urbanists! This week's inbox-enriching dosage of all things urban brings you news on how New Yorker rats are the best-smelling, events from Banbury Road to Turkey, and opportunities to conduct research, write blog pieces, and much more.
This week we're putting a spotlight on Nairobi. While The Guardian uses cartoon-style imagery to tell a story of how Kenya's melting pot capital was born, CityLab looks at Nairobi alongside Addis Ababa to consider expanding walkability in the two cities. For a less anthropocentric piece, check out Andrew Rudd's pursuit of 'No more elsewheres', which looks to Nairobi to explore the relationship between the human and non-human in cities.

As always, please do send in your pictures and work -  we'd love to feature them in our newsletter. Head over to Facebook, Twitter, and our website pages for more updates.
