Monthly program: Native Bromeliads

6:30 p.m., Wed., Oct. 2nd, Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane, Clearwater

October's speaker will be Tom Wolfe, from the Bromeliad Guild of Tampa Bay. Bromeliads have been part of Tom's life for over fifty years. After joining the Bromeliad Guild of Tampa Bay in 1967, Tom was soon introduced to the Florida natives by members who loved to camp in the Florida Everglades.  They spent many weekends in the Big Cypress Swamp trying to find a specimen of each of the native bromeliads. Over the years, Tom has served in all the positions of the BGTB as well as the Florida Council of Bromeliad Societies.  Tom served on the Board of Directors of the Bromeliad Society International for 14 years and six years as President. He and his wife Carol and I live on two and half acres in Lutz, which house his greenhouses.
