Bishops call for respect on all sides
The bishops of the Church of England have issued a call for respect on all sides amid growing acrimony over the debate on Britain’s withdrawal from the EU.
A joint statement issued on behalf of the Church of England’s College of Bishops calls for a new tone of listening and respect in debates and describes the use of language in some cases as “unacceptable”.
It adds: “We should speak to others with respect. And we should also listen. We should do this especially with the poor, with the marginalised, and with those whose voices are often not heard in our national conversation.

The Life Events Diary is provided free by The Church of England to help churches manage their Weddings, Funerals, Baptism and Banns services with some handy tools to help with the administration of these services.

Benedictine Spirituality for Anglicans

This event is for clergy (so please encourage your clergy to attend!) This workshop will consider values distinctive of St Benedict’s Rule such as moderation, discretion, diffused authority and keeping a good balance in life between prayer, reading, and work. It will also look at traditional Benedictine spiritual disciplines such as praying the Daily Office, Lectio Divina and cultivating the memory of God in everyday life.

Homeless Sunday
13th October 2019
The focus this year is ‘The impact of volunteering on the volunteer’.
Homeless Sunday has been part of the Christian calendar for more than a quarter of a century. It is an opportunity for churches of all denominations and people of all faiths to unite and show solidarity with those experiencing homelessness and to reflect and plan practical action on homelessness.

Stress and Resilience Workshop for clergy
Tuesday 22nd October 2019 | Church House, Hove 12 – 5 pm | BOOKING
This is a popular course for clergy with a maximum of 30 places. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. A sandwich lunch between 12-1pm will be provided.
Using the latest in cognitive and neuropsychological knowledge, the principles of raising awareness, promoting mental health and resilience are laid out in practical and accessible strategies.

BCP Choral Eucharist Chichester Cathedral
There will be a traditional Choral Communion according to the Book of Common Prayer at Chichester Cathedral on Saturday 5th October at 10.30am attended by the Chichester branch of the Prayer Book Society. The celebrant will be the Rt. Revd. Alan Chesters and the preacher the Archdeacon of Chichester, the Ven. Luke Irvine-Capel. The service will be sung by the Cathedral Voluntary Choir and everyone is most welcome. The Prayer Book Society exists to promote continued use of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer in the Church of England. Living Faith Course 2020
Living Faith is a part-time course spread over three terms. It is designed to help people find and grow in the discipleship to which God is calling them.
The course is open to anyone who wants to grow and develop in Christian discipleship and ministry.
Living Faith is also part-one of the Authorised Lay Ministry training programme and candidates who wish to train as ALM’s need first to complete Living Faith. Living Faith will be running at six venues in 2020 – full details at the link below.

Study for a MA in Christian Ministry
The University of Chichester offers a unique MA in Christian Ministry. The MA is specially designed for clergy and accredited lay ministers. It lasts three years and is taught at three residential schools each year, in late August, January and May. It aims to relate theological thinking to the practical needs of the contemporary ministry. Students undertake a variety of assessment tasks including book reviews, practical projects, case studies and short popular reflections.
