The mission of the Paul Bunyan Show is to provide access to current knowledge and technology which enhances the quality of life and market competitiveness of individuals, families, industries, and communities. This mission is accomplished by showcasing research, products, services, and experience through educational exhibits, presentations, and demonstrations on the forest industries, natural resources and lifestyles. Activities include:
- Ohio State Lumberjack ChampionshipsSM
- International Lumberjack CompetitionSM
- Log Loader Competition
- Heavy Equipment Demonstrations
- Arborist Skills Clinics and Demonstrations
- Chainsaw Carvers, Clinics and Demonstrations
- Grinders and Chippers Demonstrations
- Wood Stoves
- Forest Industry Education and Seminars
- Camping by Reservation or Walk In (water and electric) Dump station location on-site.
- Wood Crafts
- Wood Auction - All wood processed during the show will be auctioned off on Sunday afternoon. Firewood, milled wood, wood chips, mulch and more.

The “101” Conference is THE weekend outdoor education experience designed to inspire teachers and outdoor educators with creative ways to provide exciting learning experiences. Enjoy meaningful large and small group sessions, excellent company, and fine eating. This event made possible by YMCA Camp Kern, the Environmental Education Council of Ohio, and the Ohio Environmental Education Fund. The cost is $30 and includes all sessions, programs, meals, and overnight accommodations. Scholarships and discounts available. Appalachian Green Teachers Conference

Come enjoy the PLT-Ohio Display!
Join Rural Action and Camp Oty’Okwa for the 6th Appalachian Green Teachers Conference in the beautiful hills of Burr Oak State Park. This conference will feature concurrent sessions and field trips focused on meeting academic standards through inquiry-based environmental education. The conference will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and wrap up by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. We will provide certificates for teacher CEUs and graduate credit is available through Ashland University (paperwork will be available at the conference or upon request).
Cost is $35 per day, which includes meals. Scholarships are available – contact Joe Brehm for more information (contact info below).

NSTA Area Conference on Science Education
"Science: The Bridge to Endless Possibilities"

Come partake in our PLT-Ohio session "STEM Goes Outside" at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati!
STEM is there when exploring outdoor and placed-based science lessons that enhance students’ knowledge of trees, forests, and the real-world environment! You will want to be there!
NSTA provides national and international leadership in science education by identifying the qualities and standards for good science education; these are set forth in the form of position statements, which are used to support the improvement of science education at all levels. To help you make the most of the professional development opportunities available at the conference, the Conference Committee has planned the conference around three strands that explore topics of current significance, enabling to to focus on a specific area of interest or need:
- Bridging the Three Dimensions of Science Teaching and Learning: Practices, Core Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts
- Constructing Bridges: Building Lifelong Appreciation and Passion for Science
- Building Strong Bridges: Reinforcing the Connection Between Science and Literacy
The conference runs from November 14th-16th. It is centrally located at Duke Energy Convention Center, however some sessions (including "STEM Goes Outside") are within walking distance at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.
