Looking back at the fateful words of the late Tim Russert, on a night in 2000 when many of us went to bed thinking Al Gore was going to be the next President, only to wake and find out it was not to be. Once again in 2020, Florida will be key in deciding the next President.
Our State Lawmakers want to hear from you!
Charlotte County Delegation Meeting will be held on October 8 from 8-11 am at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association, 2001 Shreve Street, Punta Gorda, FL. If you wish to speak you must send your name, address and phone number to Representative Grant no later than 4 pm on October 1. His phone number is 941-613-0914. You do not need to sign up if you wish to attend, but get there early. Representatives Grant, Gruters and Albritton will be attending. This is an excellent opportunity to voice our concerns. Mary Lundeberg, will be speaking to represent the DEC. Please come to support her.
Voter Registration Canvassing
This week we are starting our canvassing for Voter Registration and Petition signing. If you have had the voter registration training class, please sign up for this very IMPORTANT next step to turn Florida Blue in 2020. Click her to sign up for either Tuesday or Thursday. This will be a weekly event until mid December.
The October DEC Monthly Meeting will be a training session and it will be from 5 pm-6:30 pm. During this meeting we will be canvassing door to door in the Precinct 16, our neighborhood. We will divide into groups and actually knock on doors of our fellow democrats. If you have not canvassed before, it will give you an opportunity to "shadow" an experienced canvasser. Remember, everyone does not need to knock on doors. We desperately need volunteers to DRIVE canvassers as well as knock on doors. Looking forward to seeing all democrats at the this training session. You do not need to be a member of the DEC to attend. We will have our customary Happy Half Hour at 6:30 after canvassing has been completed.
