The Daily Encounter
"How's Your Investment?"

You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

2 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV

Are the good things that God has deposited in you earning interest? Who in your life is closer to God because they have YOU in their life? More important than any holiness we can achieve, is the act of passing along what we have already learned.

But how do we do this? "Invest in others", i know, if you've spent any time at all in church you've probably heard this kind of language before. It's very "churchy" language but there is a reason for all the repetition.
When we teach others, both by our lives and our words, we are "investing" in them. Not only does this please God, it is also the best way for us to fan our own flame! The key to maturity, or a "valuable" Christian life is not focusing on how much WE can learn, it's about how much we can reproduce what God has already given us.

None of this is possible without relationship, real relationship. You wouldn't trust your child's college fund to a random stranger that showed up to your door claiming to be an investment banker. You would need to know that the money you invest is going to grow/multiply. Not just a little bit but exponentially so that you can achieve the savings you need. When we take the time to have real, authentic relationships with people we will know if they are capable of passing along the things that you are teaching/showing them as well!

The ultimate goal? To see the flame that God has entrusted to each one of us light fires in other hearts that will do the same. Not that we deserve anything apart form salvation but this is our key to rewards both here and now, and in eternity.

So who in your life can you invest in? Who could be investing in you? Everyone in your life fits in to one of these two categories. God has uniquely positioned you to help someone that only you can reach.
